Yep, hitting is not the problem and we should focus on run prevention as some on this board insist.
Yeah, this fabulous lineup will be fine if the pitching staff can keep its ERA under 1.Yep, hitting is not the problem and we should focus on run prevention as some on this board insist.
finished with 22Compare the Jays offense with the Tribe.
Johnson, Mercado and Harold should all be released come October. Can't win with any of them. This speaks volumes about Daniel Johnson’s lack of a future with the Guardians.

Under what emergency would Mercado be forced to play in the infield? COVID-19 outbreak? Team wide food poisoning? We will keep one of them... Id vote on Mercado since he is a plus defender with MLB experience and can play the MIF if emergency comes up...

Mercado needs to go. Seen enough of him. The corner outfield spots are beyond pathetic and upgrades are not needed...major upgrades are needed. They can possibly solve at least one internally. But both spots need major upgrades. If not, they have no chance to compete next season, even with a really good staff. We will keep one of them... That is, and should be a non-factor in regards to Mercado. If you like Mercado over the other options then that's understandable with the reasoning you gave, but choosing him because you think he can play MIF(he can't) seems a bit ludicrous to me.You never know when you need an emergency guy at certain positions and Mercado was originally a SS, so it's not like he cannot play there...
Also I am looking at the fact we have Jones, Kwan etc who likely could contribute in 22, but at left handed hitters... We lack RH depth at the current moment in the OF, so why not have a plus defender who hits from the right side as a 4th OF? If I am choosing between Johnson, HRam and Mercado, it's Mercado 100% of the time since we need to keep a right handed OF plus he is a solid defender.

Oscar Mercado is at least competent enough to play just about anywhere on the diamond save for pitcher and catcher, given time and opportunity.. He's just best suited for the OF where his best tools can be exploited..So I guess 2400 innings doesn't count as being able to play in the infield... Now his range was good, just made too many errors (kind of like Amed essentially) so he got switch to the OF...
