It's a shame Harold is so brutal in the OF. There is a useful bat there. Probably not somebody you want getting 500 AB's, but a useful guy off the bench.

I'm squinting to find a useful bat in Harold.

Maybe if I get a microscope....

Allen goes 3 IP...no runs...4 H...no walks...2 K.

Hentges throws a scoreless inning. His ERA since moving to the pen full time is 1.74 in nine appearances covering 10.1 IP...only one walk.

Gose throws another scoreless inning. In five games covering 5.2 IP, his ERA is 1.59...only 2 walks.

Mercado walks and swipes second. A bad throw moves him to third.

Zimmer scores him with another sac fly.

With Sandlin, Garza, Karinchak, Hentges, Gose, and Clase, we could have the hardest throwing pen in the history of baseball next year.

If he had any other tool....

Where is there a forgiving outfield? He could wind up there.

Gose will only get better. He hasn't been pitching that long. He still can't get his breaking ball over. Once he can do that - look out.

Don't forget J.C. Mejia. As a reliever this year batters are hitting .176. He only has problems when he's starting.

I don't think Garza will be on the team next year.

He hits a ground ball every time. Tonight he hit three ground balls that found holes. Other times he hits into double plays. All you know for sure is he's hitting it on the ground, he'll never draw a walk, and almost never get an extra base hit.

He's Yandy Diaz only as an outfielder, or more accurately, an outnonfielder.

Diaz takes a ton of walks though...

When you look at the what Weird contributes.. he and Franmil should trade places.. Let Weird DH.. and Franmil play OF...

...or wait until the CBA goes through the drama that's coming.. and find a home for Weird as a DH for an NL club where they can utilize his defensive prowess on as much of a limited basis as they can afford... A nice return might include an international cash slot or a comp B draft pick..on the low side.. and a rookie leaguer with some upside (and someone the Indians had their eye on in the last two drafts that was chosen before they could get him) that does not requiring forty man roster protection on the high side.. In short.. not a lot.. Squinting will be required to see the promise of whomever or whatever the Indians recieve & that's IF they're able to get anything for Weird...

Thoughts?..

We've seen flashes of Gose controlling/commanding his breaking ball.. consistently is what he needs most.. There's so little actual samples of his ability to make any determination, but, the tools are there.. We'll just have to wait to see them bloom..

Mejia as a reliever.. hmm.. sounds like a damn good use of his talent..

Garza won't be on the team?. what?... disagree with this assessment..unless you're intimating a trade.. At best, Garza is a "throw in"...

Garza will be 28 years old in March. It took him forever to get to the bigs and he's probably the last guy in the bullpen right now. His ERA is 4.71, which is awful for a reliever, and his WHIP is 1.57. I just don't see him making the team next year and I don't even know if he has value as a throw in.

Part of my assessment is that in his last four appearances he's given up five runs in four innings. It just doesn't seem like he's making the adjustments he needs to in order to get outs. Eli Morgan, for example, has been getting better the more innings he gets as he learns what he can and can't get away with.

Eli's monthly ERA's: July 5.40 (3 starts), August 4.45 (6 starts), September 3.27 (4 starts against the Red Sox, Yankees, Brewers, and White Sox!) Not exactly the creampuffs of major league baseball. He put it all together in his last start when he shut out the White Sox on one hit for six innings.

You can see the growth in Morgan, as opposed to Garza who is still floundering after 22 appearances.

You're going to DFA Garza because he's 28 and isn't Eli Morgan?..

The same Garza who will have two minor league options

The same Garza who can be sent to the minors to work on becoming more eli-esque?.

The same Garza that has less than 25 innings of major league experience..

Of course..it's time to move on.. ridiculous..
