New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Personally I dont watch Star trek, I have seen every episode of the original series because my brother and dad are huge Star Trek fans.

That being said, its fine I dont watch Star Trek because I am not trying to write a series in the Star Trek universe, that is insane to me.
Isn't it?

My other big issue... and not to drag into another, forbidden topic, but most know I am not a big conservative.

And I recognize that Star Trek has featured social justice and inclusion from the beginning. It was revolutionary in that regard as we all know.

But Alex Kurtzman and his 11 other co-executive producers have so ham-fistedly crammed social justice and inclusiveness into the new Trek that it is akin to using a 20 ton sledgehammer to drive in a 10 cent nail.

But that is the mark of bad, sloppy writing. It started with JJ Abrams and it continues unabated. Why write a good story, using well crafted metaphors, or a cohesive narrative seen by an objective audience, like they used to do (Let That be Your Last Battlefield, Far Beyond the Stars, Measure of a Man etc.,) when you can hit the viewers over the head repeatedly?

I enjoyed Fringe.

So I am not sure, but Orci must have been the real brains of the show.

Nu Trek is beyond cringe-worthy. I'm shocked that both Picard and Discovery are still going. I've watched each and neither inspires me in any way shape or form. Lower Decks is probably the best of the current active TV shows.

(Full disclosure - I grew up on TNG/DS9/VOY, so nostalgia yadda yadda)

Just a reminder to re-watch Barry like I am with my son because Barry returns soon.

Great show.

I'm loving Moon Knight. It's such a fun show and I appreciate that something Disney/Marvel feels like it's a little disconnected from the MCU. Doesn't feel like a phase.

I'm digging the Egyptian mythology angle. It's a nice contrast to all the Norse stuff the MCU usually showcases, and the recent Greek mythology that was brought up in Eternals.

Would recommend Severence on Apple TV

Slow burn but already pumped for season 2.

Can't wait for this:

Cranston's first partnership with Vince Gilligan on the X-Files, a "Speed" parody that served as a sort of another spiritual prequel to BB, might still have a case for the best of his work.
Vikings: Valhalla had a pretty solid opening season. Hopefully it doesn't get diluted like the original Vikings series did once Ragnar was killed.
Started watching a similar show about the Viking peoples called the "Last Kingdom" which was also really good so far.

The Last Kingdom >>>>> Vikings

Especially the first three seasons of Last Kingdom. It's basically telling an extension of the same story, only later in the timeline (after Ragnar's death) and more from the English POV.

I thought the fifth/final season was really strong. Wrapped it up as well as possible considering the books do continue past that point. Though we still do get a movie!

Overall, I think it as good historical fiction as TV has produced pretty much ever. The characters all actually grew and developed like real people, etc.. Really going to miss that show.

Yeah, I just finished it a week or two ago and thought it stuck the landing well enough. It wasn't the ending of The Shield (though nothing has yet come close to that masterpiece of a series finale), but it was satisfying. I think the show suffered after Alfred's death, but was still entertaining.

It’s on HBO Max but I really like Tokyo Vice
