I was curious on Alex Call just because his strikeout numbers and OPS improved a lot past the age that typically occurs and after the lost pandemic season.

He only got three games to work with Tracy, so I'm not sure if he was afforded a real opportunity there to work on his swing mechanics.

The whole ordeal has been bizarre.

I was referring to his attitude. If he wasn't jelly here well ... wasn't going to jell with Tracy, no matter how much he may have wanted his swing to get fixed (and even if worked on it), you just sometimes know it wasn't going to work with personality clashes.

Bimbo tells us this then we spend 8000 posts trying to figure out something we’ll never be told…

We won't be told since 1) Reyes isn't out of the organization yet and 2) people said stupid shit so Bimbo doesn't want to tell us those stories anymore....

Either way, as soon as Reyes was optioned, I knew for some reason he wasn't going to take it laying down. Something did happen to cause a rift between him and Francona/the FO and it wouldn't surprise me if the off season with Boras had something to do with it

Interesting theory regarding Boras.

I'm sure he's not well-liked by the FO.

Aaaaand that's why cutting Call when we did was a stupid move. Even if he was a lock in their minds to get DFA in the offseason, we're now left with every day ABs from either Benson, who's overmatched and not even close to getting a hit (expecting a ticket to Columbus any day) and a struggling Miller and his 610 OPS vs LHP or N. Jones who can't hit a FB right up the middle off a lefty. Enjoy.
Would have been nice to have a competent hitter that gives LHP troubles to get him out.
Call even being an option was a red flag to begin with. I guess they felt they needed to reward him/set an example to the other minor leaguers that falling in line has it's benefits (get a call up, get to go to another team).

This was going to be an issue, Call or no Call. The team has decided they can't contend, based on Antonetti's newspeak at the presser. They need to run Jones, Benson, Gonzalez and Palacios and see what they got, because come the offseason, they have to make some hard decisions on this 40 man. Getting every view of these guys is necessary. This even includes Benson, who deserves a couple weeks to get his feet under him (maybe some work against DeMarlo Hale curveballs and with The Bat Whisperer Valaika).

This is Development Time, contending be damned. So be it. Hopefully they fully commit to it and get Naylor up here.

They will try to contend, while getting these guys ABs...

OGon got hurt, only reason Call was with the team.

I noticed something a few games ago that has really stuck with me.

After a win, the players on the field went through the procession line of congratulatory daps from the coaching staff and bench. The camera stayed fixed on Tito as he offered verbal praise to each player in line, until he got to Franmil. Tito looked at him blankly and said nothing.

There's clearly something more than just reduced production happening with Franmil.

Also, why didn't the team just DFA him immediately after the deadline? Why send him down to AAA for three games and then cut him?
Interesting observation. Tito clearly not on the same page with all his vets; kind of explains his effusive, almost bizarre praise for his boy/mole/clubhouse commissar Bryan Shaw.

Franmil probably reached his boiling point after the send down, I'm assuming. The team waited for Bauer to boil over first, too. Team seems to struggle with the hotheaded types; might even explain why Straw still openly pounds the drum for his old team, too. Have to wonder if Tito isn't running out his welcome like he did in Boston.

Also, my brother has peacock since he is a soccer nut, so this makes life nice haha

Just to add more context, the game I was referring to was last Sunday's victory over Tampa.

All pure guesswork

If for whatever reason Tito is running out his welcome (I sincerely don't think he is) then he isnt under contract next season anyways, so Alomar/Sarbaugh get the Manager and bench coach duties... guys likely get promoted from within to replace him.
