Game Thread | Game #38 | Bulls @ Cavs | Jan. 2, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Theoretically on a guy like Demar, makes all the sense in the world.

1. He shoots 28% from 3. So Allen doesn’t have to play totally up on him like a lot of perimeter guys where Mobley would be better suited due to foot speed/agility. You live with a DeRozan pull-up 3 over a 7 footer who will still get a contest(even tho he did make a pretty tough three late on the game…I think you roll with those odds)

2. For him to get to his bread and butter, he has to dribble towards an outstretched 7 footer. He had to use a HIGH release against Allen and it didn’t work that well.

3. He’s not getting to/finishing at the rim.

4. Unlikely there’s any pick and roll because DeRozan would probably logically not want to switch a wing defender onto him when he has a big on him.

Now on a guy like Brad Beal or someone who can shoot and has speed, not sure I like Allen as the primary defender even tho he’s a capable switch defender.

demar also doesnt have a super explosive first step.
This is a place where we really miss Mobley. He’s basically the perfect player to guard DeMar on switches. No pick and rolls, he’s not going to try to blow by him and if he does, Allen is at the rim. Mobley can move his feet and contest mid range jumpers all day.

Allen did a fantastic job with the assignment, all things considered.

You know, if the Bulls coach had saved his challenge and been able to challenge the free throw putback as a lane violation things might have been different…
A new Futuredome in the making.

Absolutely refs helped get us into the bonus fast in the 3rd.

Lot of bad calls the other way too though. Weren't allowed to do anything but get out of demars way etc
the officiating around Zach Lavine when he's driving the hoop is as bad as the Bulls fans are complaining about. Surprised that Donovan even got the whistle he did because the Cavs guards usually have to do extreme amounts of BS to get it

He is the first player ever to score at least 70 points and dish out 10 or more assists in the same game. - Fedor

Mitchell’s previous regular-season best was 46. - Fedor (He beat his previous high by only 25!)

It wasn’t one of those games where we were in control, or it was back and forth, or it was a blowout in our favor. Every single play he made was necessary. - JBB

In all, Mitchell scored 55 after halftime. - Fedor (Scoring 55 in a full game is considered amazing)

He has that ‘it’ factor to him. He just raised all of our level of play, put us on his back. He means everything to this team. - Kevin Love

The chucker put up the most efficient 71 on 34 you'd ever see. @The Human Q-Tip

This game thread should be stickied. Holy fun!

Fantastic game by Mitchell, obviously. That doesn't meant there aren't other games where he takes too many bad shots early in the game, and too early in the shot clock.

Doesn't make him not a great player, because he is. It's just an area that would help the team as a whole improve.
