Game Thread | Game #38 | Bulls @ Cavs | Jan. 2, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
LeBron, Game 5.

Delly, Game 3.

Spyda, 1-2-23.

LeBron’s destruction of Detroit was the more important game, Delly’s play that required a hospital visit was a truly heroic effort but tonight’s performance by Spyda was the best individual performance by a Cavalier in franchise history imho.

The Cavs committed just 10 turnovers in 53 minutes after 21 two nights ago. That was big.

They also missed 12 free throws or they would not have had to play an overtime. But why not - they're now 6-0 in OT.

Props to DeMar DeRozan, who at age 33 and playing his third game in four nights had 44 points in 46 minutes. LeVert and Okoro were putty in his hands. I kept asking for Allen to guard him and they switched Jarrett onto him just in time, forcing him to take long jumpers over a seven-footer. It worked.

With 9 seconds to go and the Cavs down by 3, Mitchell passed to Allen in front of the rim. Allen had Love wide open for the game tying 3 but decided to shoot himself and dropped in a jump hook. Dumb play by Allen. When you're down 3 with under 10 seconds to go you look to kick it out for a 3-pointer to tie. The Cavs were saved when Mitchell rebounded his own missed free throw.

The Bulls came to play, as Brad Daugherty said. After scoring 98 and 102 in the first two games DeRozan decided to take matters into his own hands. The Bulls scored 130 in regulation, but only got 23 from their bench.

Cedi had a nice game with 19 points and 4 assists. LeVert was 2-for-13. If LeVert just has a normal game we win this easily in regulation.

Andre Drummond had 6 points, 4 rebounds and a steal in 7 minutes but Billy Donovan didn't play him any more than that. Vucevic played 44 minutes and was a -19. Maybe they should have played Drummond more.

Incredible win considering they were missing three starters (Garland, Mobley, Wade) and their sixth man (Rubio).

For the old guys like me,,,,,

Wouldn't it have been great if Joe Tait could've called this game?
Joe Tait was the only announcer I knew from 1970 to 1988 when I moved from Cleveland.

Watching the highlights and I'm damn near as excited as when i watched it live.

What a damn performance by Spyda.
