2023 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Curious what your model likes about him with his 3% and FTs both being down from last year and is ppg being under 10?

My model is possession based.

He's seen a meaningful possession based increase in PTS, REBS, AST, Stocks and free throw rate.

Production wise, he very evenly produces across box score categories, which is a role playing profile that succeeds often on the wing.

Interesting, why doesn't your model love Wembanyama?

Pro competition in regards to what the college model is saying is still a bit of an unknown. I include it as a data point but there haven’t been enough guys who have crossed over from the g-league and Europe, in the possession era, to really get a handle on what any of it means. Ball landed in a similar range and was really good (when on the court)…..just for comparison sake.

Anecdotally, it likes Wemby…..he produces above a median level, while playing pro competition. That can’t be viewed as anything but positive……but when I pulled these numbers, at that point in the season, he just wasn’t producing at an elite level in international competition, like a Sengun. It is possible that has changed. We’ll see at years end.

Went to watched Emoni Bates play vs. Kent tonight.
You think Evan Mobley is slim? This guy is 6' 10" and 170-- Maybe.

He has a shot though, and he can handle the ball. He brought it up court flawlessly.
Needs his vitamins, but the skills and length are there. Went off in the 2nd half to no avail.

My goodness, he is rail thin.

Kent is led by 23 year old PG Sincere Carry who does this

Does Bates still have any shot at the NBA? I remember he was supposed to be the top of last years class but a lot happened

Only 6”5 but Jordan Hawkins has a really nice quick stroke. Would not mind a trade up from the srcond round to target him if they keep the pick. Cavs really really need shooting around the big 4.

Also KeynotaeJohnson is a really cool story returning after sitting out from the heart issue and older prospect. Has a great nba frame and reminds me a bit of Keldon Jonhnson.

Bates is a guy I'd absolutely take a flyer on if his current draft rating holds true. If the 40s-60s is where Bates is drafted, I draft him just to see if he can come anywhere near his precollege hype.

You can't teach height, but you can "teach" girth!
A 6'10" wing who can dribble will get somebody's attention.

Watching Kansas TCU. Miller from TCU might be a guy the Cavs look at in round two. Also too bad the Cavs getting Dick in June is not realistic.

This is one of the more messed up college athlete stories I can remember. Just senseless shit over a pointless argument.

It is a situation where all options are just bad. Either Miller knew he was bringing a gun to a drunk friend and could guess what was about to happen. Or he brought a gun to someone, without (it sounds like), inquiring as to why......and someone was senselessly murdered. I suspect it is probably the former, given the details of how he used his car to block the victim's Jeep.

Miller had an obligation here given the time and situation......regardless of wether he isn't criminally charged. Delivering a gun to a friend who is (it sounds like) clearly drunk and doing so in a heavily populated area of bars / students is beyond reckless. Given the described circumstances, how many shots were fired and how crowded the area is described as being, it is probably a miracle only one person died.

Will he drop to the 2nd round so we have a shot to draft him?

The Cavaliers aren't *that* lucky...

Though Emoni Bates and Brandon Miller both dropping because of gun charges would be quite coincidental...and they're both known for their shot...

...I'll show myself out.

How is he not being charged as accessory to murder? Not only did he bring the gun, but he also used his car to block him in.

If I were a team that could be picking Miller in the draft, as good as he is, I would want absolutely nothing to do with him.

I'd still draft him.

I can't imagine any well run organization taking him.

If you are months away from 10's of millions of dollars and you can't sort out what you should and shouldn't be doing in a situation like this, then I don't think I want to have to deal with you once you already have the money guaranteed.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a second chance, just that I would not be laying my job (as a GM) on the line, to give it to him. Someone will......and Miller better hope it is an organization with some track record of helping to develop guys off the court.
