The official report from Knicks is to reevaluate in 2 weeks which usually means longer
He'll be like Willis Reed, hobbling onto the floor and knocking down a 3-pointer to beat the Cavs.

Seriously, if he's not 100% he'll have a real hard time scoring on Mobley and the Knicks are highly dependent on his 25 points per game.

Wow, the Celtics went into Milwaukee last night and reamed out the Bucks 140-99. The game was over by halftime with the Celtics up 75-47. Now I'm thinking we might be better off facing the Bucks in the second round than Boston.

The seedings are coming into focus with all teams having 5 or 6 games to play.

Milwaukee -
Boston 2.0
Philly 4.5
Cleveland 7.0
New York 11.0
Brooklyn 13.0

Miami, Atlanta, Chicago and Toronto look to be the play-in teams. The two that emerge will be eliminated by Milwaukee and Boston in the first round.

If the Cavs survive the Knicks they will probably get Milwaukee - a very tough matchup but it will be a great experience to prepare them for next season.

It's always bad to look ahead, but the Bucks have shown some cracks lately. They got blown out at home by Boston last night, giving up 75 points in the first half and 140 for the game. In two games against the 33-44 Pacers in the last two weeks the Bucks allowed 136 and 139 points, going 1-1. They lost to Denver 129-106.

They've won 7 of 10, but have had a few stinkers and their wins have been against bad or mediocre teams.

Cavs need to win out (5-0) and have the Sixers got 2-4 to get the 3 seed. Cavs winning out isn't that crazy.

Sixers 2-4 is almost a non-starter, but:

vs TOR
@ MIL
vs BOS
vs MIA
@ ATL
@ BK

If they start off 0-2 against Toronto and Milwaukee, we can start really thinking about the possibility.

I don’t think we can read too much into the Bucks loss. They were up by 3 games and clearly not interested in competing against Boston. They are looking at 4 rounds of playoffs and planning accordingly. I’d be very surprised if we see that version of the Bucks once the playoffs start.

I have been thinking about team construction a bit. I think it we have what we have right now but I essentially see a few things I wanted to comment on.

First, we know our roster is really top heavy. Our top 4 might be the best group in the NBA (or phx). The drop off after that is rough. Our 5th and 6th best guy are closer to the average 7th. Our 7th and 8th are closer to the average 10th.

Second, rotation wise the mystical 3nD wing we have all been pining for is not our only hole. I would love to get one of course but the group of okoro, caris, and cedi/stevens is serviceable as a 5th man given the top 4. What we also need right now is a real 3rd big. Mobley and Allen are forced to expend a ton of energy anchoring our defense and also covering the full 78 big man mins.

Third, and I think this might be more of a jbb issue than a construction issue, our bench guys have no rope. You look at most top teams around the league and it seems all their random scrubs have a few signature games a year where they win a huge match for their squad. I feel like JBB's hook is so quick we rarely see that from the Cavs. Cedi and Stevens have had a few games like this, but you look at another top heavy team like Phx and you see Jock Londale making game changing plays because the coach doesn't treat his squad like a middle school jv team.

Other than obviously swapping coaches, I think we should try to upgrade the bottom end of our roster with a focus on big wings and a versatile 3rd big. Not sure of many specific targets but we need more guys JBB is willing to play.

Its hard to upgrade given how resource strapped we are and most moves would be a one step forward one step back thing as we rip a new hole open to patch another. Koby has done a great job on the fringe with finds like Wade and Stevens, but those guys aren't enough, especially given Wade's recent struggles. Im not sure how to move forward from here but I fully believe that with a little bit of shuffling around our core 4 + okoro or levert plus the internal growth of the 4, we will be positioned to make the full leap in the next 2-3 years. However, it is imperative that we don't rely only on our internal growth

This rambling has gone off in a random direction now but what are the thoughts of the board on this? I know its a bit early with the playoffs around the corner but I was just thinking about how our roster compares to some of the other top teams and wanted to get down some thoughts

I don’t know how you know what you have after the top 6. They don’t play enough to know.

Now Sixers need to go 0-5 and Cavs go 4-0 to get 3rd seed. So this is pretty much done dusted.

Cavs need to win 2 more games to hold off NYK for home court advantage. Hope they do it in the next 2 games and rest DM, DG and EM in the last 2 games.

This is what folks have been saying all year - we need a better starting 3 than Okoro and the bench is pretty light after LeVert.

As for next year, Fedor says it's likely LeVert will be back. So we'll probably have the same team. Any improvement has to be internal. I see three possibilities:

1. Mobley takes another step forward and becomes a 20/10 guy and DPOY candidate.

2. Rubio, with a full off-season, to train, returns as the same player he was in '21-'22 before he blew out his knee (not the 65% we're seeing now).

3. Wade or Okoro develops a consistent corner 3, giving us a solid 3-and-D at small forward.

I believe we have a tax MLE as well which is around 11m? Not sure about wings but I would love to take a swing at Naz Reid

Cavs might be screwed with the new CBA
Yes and no. We might be screwed in getting productive bench players in the future if we don’t address it next offseason or the year after...but the new CBA makes it much easier to keep our core of Mobley, Garland, Mitchell and Allen together if we wanted to, and makes it easier for us to keep Mitchell in free agency, as we can pay him significantly more than any other team.

For the Pacers game tomorrow, JA is QUESTIONABLE, Okoro is OUT and yes , things are back to normal as Windler is OUT with a left foot sprain
