2023 Season | Series #19 | Guardians @ Twins | June 1-4, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'll take a split. Onto the next 3 game series where we need 2 out of 3.

He would just be another guy blocking Arias. He's completely fine as a utility player, but makes no sense on the Guardians.

I actually wanted him in the role Freeman is in now...

I'm reminded of an old Asian story, illustrating the foolishness of judging everything on immediate results...and it applies to baseball.

A rice farmer and his son work their farm. One day they have an argument and the son leaves.

The people in their village say...oh, thats bad. But the old man of the village, sitting under a tree, says...We shall see.

The next day, a neighbor gives the farmer his spare ox. The people of the village say...oh, thats good. But the old man says...We shall see.

A week later the ox steps on the farmers foot. The people of the village say...Oh, thats bad. But the old man says...We shall see.

The son hears about the farmers injury, and returns to help.

Oh, that's good....We shall see.

A week later, the son falls off the ox and breaks his leg.

Oh, that's bad...We shall see.

The next day the army arrives and takes every able bodied young man, but not the son.

*********

Like the old man, when it comes to baseball...we shall see.

And guess who is the old man of this particular village?
But, aren’t you also the one always complaining that Tribe aren’t trading their prospects while they have your “perceived” value (ASSuming a trade could have been made) and saying we can’t wait another x years to compete? So don’t say others aren’t being patient when you are not with our prospects either.. You say I should trust Tito because he is usually right but you don’t trust FO either when they are usually right. Thus, don’t preach patience to me when you should look in the mirror too.

In as much as there is little chance you'll get a direct and honest response from this comment....

Yes.. the lack of patience is the cause.. and there is no equivocation on that outcome....

The subject may not be best discussed in a game thread.. but, here we are.. The strategy that plays and plays for both immediate prospect impact and future impact is what I'll refer as "Limited Prospect Selection".. @Tondo is a good example of doing this.. He's selected a very small number of prospects that he considers should be kept at virtually all costs.. The rest have as much value if they stay or if they go pending trade chances and opportunities to advance within the Guardians' system. Tondo's current favorite at SS is Brayan Rocchio (he has faves at other positions, too).. and he and anyone that has seem this kid play should & have to agree with him.. Jose Tena, Angel Martinez, Tyler Freeman and others.. don't have the gravitas that Rocchio brings with both his physical as well as his mental game.

I doubt there are more than a handful of prospects in all of the MiLB universe that do !..

If depth is needed for a MiLB promotion.. these are the guys (Tena, Angel, Tyler et al) to fill in and should be 1.) kept.. 2.) promoted.. If a hole needs to be patched at the MLB level.. these are the guys who should be made available in trade..

The issue with whom you've directed your comment.. he flips from one side of the fence to the other.. sometimes in the same posting.. It's partially done as a response to some stimulus in a given game or posting.. but, he can never be wrong... That may be the motivation.. I guess there are worse thing..

Any way.. Like I said.. perhaps not the place for this..

Thank god that Stix and some relievers were brilliant. 3 hits ain’t going to do it, most days. Ryan faced the minimum through 6. Clasé was shaky AGAIN.

But taking the last 2 games after the turd-fest of the first 2 games was important.
