2023 Season | Series #19 | Guardians @ Twins | June 1-4, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's more now of a question, when will he be full stretched out...

He's gotta be pretty close. He threw 79 pitches today. Should be ready for 100 by start three I would think. Might be nice to give him an extra day for a while though, just to be careful. Same with Civale, so I won't be surprised if they work a 6th starter in if off days don't do the trick.

What a game

Not really likely.. Each of the next three Mondays are "off days" with six games, Tuesday through Sunday, following.. So, the rotation of Bieber, Bibee Allen McStix Civale would be needed to cover at least five of those games..

Isn’t Arias a better SS than Freeman as well? Why we keep playing the worst of the SS options available at such an important defensive position is interesting. Even Gimenez is a better SS.
Yes and it's not even close. There is a legit argument that Arias is the best SS in the organization. The problem is they have nobody else that can play a utility role as well as he can. They do have a couple of good SS like Rocchio, Gimenez and Freeman though, so it wouldn't be like keeping Amed there.

I might be missing something, but with those off days, aren't they getting an extra day rest (other than the pitcher that starts and ends the 6 day stint - going on 5th day). So, IF no rainouts (DHs)...

Today - McK - Off Mon 5th
Tues - Bieber, Bibee, Civale, Allen, McK, Bieber
Monday 12th - off
Next Tues - Bibee, Civale, Allen, McK, Bieber, Bibee
Monday 19th - off
Tues - Civale, Allen, McK, Bieber, Bibee, Civale
Monday 26th - off
Then we got 13 straight games until all-star break (but it is in another month after McK has been ramped up more but he will then have 2 games on his 5th day (but will be his 6th and 7th game back).
Tues - Allen, McK, Bieber, Bibee, Civale,Allen, McK, Bieber, Bibee, Civale,Allen, McK, Bieber - All-Star Break

Awesome performance by the Guardians' staff in holding the Twins to four runs in the last three games in their own ballpark where they were averaging over five runs per game. McKenzie had it all going on - they had no chance against him. The Twins were 0-for-7 with RISP.

Naylor now leads the majors in go-ahead RBI's as he victimized Joe Ryan this time. Why teams pitch to him from the 7th inning on with the tying run or base is beyond me. Gimenez continues to rake, hitting the triple that knocked in the eventual winning run.

In the last few innings the Twins were swinging at every first pitch with everything they had. It worked for Castro but then the Guardians' pitchers caught on and led with low breaking balls. It worked.

Beating Sonny Gray and Joe Ryan back-to-back to salvage a split was really impressive, especially since we started a rookie and a pitcher who hadn't thrown a pitch in a major league game since last fall.

I'd say going 2-2 against the Twins in Minnesota with Pablo Lopez, Ober, Gray, and Ryan starting is a win.

Just glad Royce Lewis is OK. He could have broken his neck.

McKenzie was the third Cleveland pitcher since 1988 to get 10+ strikeouts on 79 pitches or fewer, but the Twins strikeout more than any team. Still, like Tito said, Tristan's performance was "way past encouraging.”

I would say getting five shutout innings from Civale also qualifies.

Detroit loses 6-2 on a walk off grand slam.

We are tied for second.
I know the division sucks but get us into the post season with how I think this staff can develop an I will gladly take my chances. TMac. Bibbe. Allen. As my three starters. I am good
And yes. I want Bieber traded for that young power hitting left fielder

I know we all want to see Arias more at SS , but he plays a dam good 1B he might have save us the last 2 games with his glove…….
I don't know if anyone noticed his footwork on that play where Lewis went ass over applecart, but I don't know if we have another 1B that can adjust that quickly.

He's like having a GG 3b at 1b. The Human Shift with his range there. Enables team to build a righty heavy rotation.
