I have been advocating a trade for a big as opposed to signing Jahidi. But one reason we may not do that is the number of free agent bigs coming up next year. This list could be flawed if there has been a flurry of extensions or something, but with an MLE we could probably get someone OK..

Loren Woods
Joel Pryzbela
Kelvin Cato
Greg Ostertag
Eddy Curry
Reggie Evans (if he is not picked up)
Nazr Mohammed
Boom Booom
Jackie Butler
Kandiman
Earl Barron
Lorenzen Wright
Stan Medvenko
Vlade Divac
Scott Pollard
Ben Wallace
Francisco Elson
Jake Voshkul
Jason Collier
Al Harrington

just a few quick observations re Cleverock's post. Evans, Medvedenko, and Harrington are not centers; Mohammed, Pryzbilla, Wallace, Ostertag, Curry, Wright, and Kandiman wouldn't be cheap; many of the others aren't any better than Jahidi White, but a few are, including Cato, Pollard, and Divac. In fact, Vlade is an interesting idea for this year. I think he doesn't want to retire, but doesn't seem to have a job. Maybe he'd hang with the Cavs for a year. He's old, but he can still play some minutes.

Vlade, I think had a major back injury.

That could be a problem./.

This is not for this year, more a next year list , that might be a reason not to trade for a decent back up this year. About Evans and Harrington, you are right they are not centers. As for Medvenko:

Medvedenko is 6'10" and 250 pounds and capable of playing either power forward or filling in at center. He has a decent touch from in close and has steadily been improving his once awful free-throw shooting.
From TSN

I think Medvenko is a poor mans Chris Mihm..

As for the not cheap bigs, I am thinking we will have the MLE, And for the cheap bigs well they are cheap bigs.

Mr & Mrs Mancini??? :chuckles:

GO GET--------------------> Joel Pryzbilla

White Thunda, You Know His Numba,.... Big Daddy, White Lightin..., Tech Revolva, ...Problem Solva, ...Worth Every Dolla, ..Let Me Here You Holla, ...You Know That Tall Mutha, .JOEL PRYZBILLA----------THE SHOT KILLA :chuckles:

Joel Pryzbilla will be priced out of our range. I can see an overpaying deal of the Dalembert-Chandler range: it's hard to find productive, promising big men nowadays.

Our best chance would be Wright. We can throw him our MLE and see what happens: He's a solid starter and can play big stretches for Z to rest.

I just dry-heaved. :D

On top of the MLE that we have to spend we have a draft pick which could be used on a center. Other options are sign and trades with the off contract Drew Gooden. Just a few alternatives for you.

 Name a center in this up coming draft that is worthy of a selection in the first round?

No Tiago Splitter doesn't count unless you think we'll be picking in the top five. :fu:

I never said it would be a good option E-Light. I am not sure on the depth in this years draft as yet. But I should assume as usual the big man department will be eerily thin.

Mike Brown seems to think, or at least sell to the fan base that we can survive at back up center with drew gooden, and donyell marshall.

I guess Jahidi White for the minimum is not as imminent as some think..

If he believes that he is either smoking something other than tobacco or will learn differently soon enough...
