2012 MLB Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Mlb started handling their draft like the other sports just this last year- the first round has night special on MLB.tv. Worked great last year but it was also a crazy-deep draft with some great prospects. Not every draft can have a Francisco Lindor at the top, though, and this is one of them. It might get awkward to watch though since I don't know if anyone can predict yet how clubs will draft with these new bonus restrictions.

Who here is pregaming in anticipation of MLB Draft Coverage?

This guy.

There are a few guys I think the Indians are looking at today, all of them college pitchers.

The guys we're most likely to see is Chris Stratton (RHP - Miss. St.), Andrew Heaney (LHP - OSU), Michael Wacha (Tex. A&M).

I'd be OK with either of the first two, they both have a higher ceiling than Wacha and are probably a bit more polished stuff wise.

A couple high school guys who I wish they would take a look at but probably won't are RHP Ty Hensley, SS/3B Addison Russell, SS/3B Corey Seager.

Hensley has #1 ceiling with great stuff, Russell has the best natural swing mechanics and raw power of any prep in the draft.

Do not want:
Marcus Stroman - P - Duke

Got to come out of this draft with a couple top prospects, especially after depleting their farm system last season.

Seems like no matter how many pitchers we acquire we always need more. I don't know shit about the MLB Draft but I hope we go pitching pitching pitching.

Someone tell me who I should hope the tribe drafts? Trent Richardson?

Houston shocks the baseball world and takes Correa number one overall.

I was actually being pretty serious. Can someone give me some insight into who I should hope we draft? I really know nothing about this.

I have no idea who he is. :chuckles:

I layed out a little something above, but basically the Indians are 90 percent taking a collegiate pitcher to add some mid-level depth to the organization.

Chris Stratton (would need to drop), Andrew Heaney, Michael Wacha is pretty much the industry consensus.

Hey, b00bie, what's with this Stanford kid Appel falling so far?

He's still got the possibility to return to school. So the bonus demands might be holding him back a bit.

Plus, everyone was pretty much set on him being gone in the top 2 they locked on to other prospects who they've been talking about through the whole process.

There is a legitimate chance he falls to 15. Not saying it's going to happen, but if he makes it past the Mets at 12 I would find myself getting excited.
