2017 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Definitely, they implemented this graduate rule a few years ago. Couple guys have taken advantage of it.

Off the top of my head, it seems like a lot of the big name QBs have skipped it in recent years, right? I'm hoping that the fact that Dak and Wentz both went last year while Connor Cook skipped it shifts sentiment in the other direction.

On RBS today, Grossi wondered if Garrett was going to get an invite to Senior Bowl. That's why he's the best.

100% Garrett is the pick at 1. I'm not buying any Allen talk.

I could totally see him saying Garrett isn't a fit for the 3-4, hence he's not a fit and we shouldn't draft him.

Tend to agree Garrett is likely the pick, but Allen is just as good of a player and deserves legitimate consideration for the pick..

The thing that makes me like Allen more, is the ability to shore up the defensive line and control the LOS while not losing anything pass rush wise... I think Allen effects the game every snap, whereas that might not be the case with Garrett...

I get Garrett is a freak athlete and is a complete player in his own right, but to me the positional importance of a DL vs. a OLB is what sways it in Allen's favor, as I see both of them on level grounds as a prospect...

I would not feel terrible if they drafted Allen. Not at all.

I was at a UW game party on Saturday and he made everyone else in the room but me very sad.

So if we move to a 4-3 front, where does everyone fit? I'm assuming we draft Garrett and he starts opposite ogbah. Is Shelton a good fit for a 4-3? What do our linebackers look like if we keep Collins?

I think we need to stop thinking about 3-4 or 4-3 those are old terms. Most teams run a hybrid these days. The goal of the coaching staff is to utilize the players to their best of their ability.

This is true. But what would our 4-3 front look like.

As it stands now...
Ogbah- Shelton- Bryant - Garrett
Kirksey - Davis - Collins

Went back to watch more Watson, really liked what I saw. He still stares down his first option too much, which really is a bad habit, especially in the NFL.

What i missed last time was his crazy accuracy, fearlessness throwing the ball, and above average ball placement.

If hes there at 12, and Hue likes what he does in the Senior Bowl, then I am all for it.

He throws into coverage a high amount of time. He shows flashes of high accuracy and then throws passes that miss by about 5 yards which will result in many more ints at the NFL unless he cleans it up. I think 12 might be a reach, a decent amount of scouts have given him a mid 2nd to high third round grade. It would not shock me if he ended up as a fringe starter or backup. But, I do think he has some good traits. There will be some future defensive pro bowlers at 12 just sitting there. You are passing on those guys for a slightly above average qb prospect. Now at 33 and 50 that is a different discussion.

I think his accuracy problems are very overblown. He has, at minimum, good accuracy. He had a lot of picks this year that were going through a WRers hands.

Ints are an overblown stat. With Watson, he made his fair share of mistakes, but he almost always more than makes up for it.

Watson will be a good NFL QB, probably top 15, if he develops well. He needs work with making faster reads, and needs to dial it back a little bit on throwing into coverages, but those are easier things to fix.

I understand what you mean about 12. The Browns might be looking at a Pro Bowl caliber talent. I am saying if the Browns are comfortable with what they see/work with in Watson to take him at 12, Im confident he will succeed.
