2018-2019 Tank Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think you guys get too hopped on these wins. When the Cavs have their next 10 games losing streak and the others pop a couple of wins, I will chuckle. The Cavs aren't a 10-72 team.
NY just made a huge commitment to go full tank trading away KP and Hardaway I think the tank race is between Cavs and NY at this point.

Maybe Ja Morant if they think Sexton isn't getting it done at guard?
Maybe, I'm thinking they won't give up on Sexton that fast, I mean they knew he needed time when they drafted him.
Besides Morant plays in a weak conference ( just think Anthony Bennett) and despite exploiting defenses game planned against him the defense isn't all that comparable to NBA defenses.
I do like Morant's explosiveness and vision better than Sextons but he also is said to often have a laid back attitude on the court borderline disinterested etc ( think Wiggins)which is the exact opposite of Sexton in college who's fire and intensity has transferred and were/are the traits Cavs need going forward.
I'm more intrigued by a high upside wing or center than I would be giving up on Sexton

Well, given that they're getting DSJ/DeAndre back, and they can play right away at 100% and the Latvian Unicorn can't...

They’ll probably buy DJ out I would think?

Morant is taller and more athetlic then Trae Young. But he's a year older then Young was last year putting up similar numbers in a weaker conference. He also has big turnover concerns just like Trae Young .

I personally want no part of Morant. Last prospect from Murray State that came up draft boards was Cameron Payne. Its easier to produce and put up big numbers at a crappy bball school playing other crappy bball schools.

I want efficient shooters and don't care what position they play.

And if the Cavs are picking near the top of the draft, no way do you risk choosing someone that has issues like that (also doesn't have a 3 ball yet) that high up. He'd be fine lower in the first round.

Only guys I'd pick up there that don't check all of the boxes with scoring (FG%, 3P%, FT%) are forwards and centers that are dominating types ie Zion.

Also; Sexton put up similar overall scoring numbers at a major program as a freshman. He and Morant are similar size too.

I am curious about Morant's play making and passing skills because of the high assist numbers but those turnovers pretty much cancels them out.

I would argue that Morant is as dominant in his own right as Zion, granted against weaker competition which I will concede. The guy has 99 percentile athleticism with crazy dunks in traffic (half court or full) and finishes really well under the basket which are few areas that translate well in the NBA (Sexton is 6'1.5 in shoes so I will wait on Morant's measurements but he's listed at 6'3" and plays bigger than his size while Sexton oddly plays smaller). I'm not advocating that we give up on Sexton after a season but I wouldn't dismiss Morant in a BPA type scenario if we get the 3rd or 4th pick.

"Cleveland will keep trying to sell Alec Burks, Rodney Hood and any other indispensable asset until the buzzer. They are willing to take on more dead money for picks. Houston will peddle a future first-round pick attached to Marquese Chriss and Brandon Knight until the buzzer. The league might be devaluing Houston's future first-rounders -- Chris Paul is 33 and hurt all the time -- but the Rockets would surely push to slap lottery protection on picks stretching beyond James Harden's prime.

Houston has discussed sending Knight and a pick for Burks, but those talks have quieted, sources say. They will also monitor the buyout market. Houston still has about $3.9 million of its taxpayer midlevel exception to spend, giving the Rockets a potential leg there."

I think Burks probably has the most value out of the guys we will most likely move. I just don't know if I would pull the trigger for him to go to Houston since that might be the one place that will take on JR. If we can trade JR for Brandon Knight and Chriss plus a first round pick I'd do that so we can move Burks somewhere else. I'd even add one of our lesser second round picks to JR to get that deal done. I think Burks and Hood could be package together for a first round pick and a more useful player than Knight.

I'd rather Koby try to get a few first round picks than a bunch of second round picks.

Cavs can't even tank right. Winning 2 in a row................stupid ownership stupid franchise really to have blown the best player in the world because you want to trade Kyrie with 2 years left on his contract. That trade forced LeBron to leave hell he might left anyway but at least there was a chance he stayed another year with Kyrie in his final year and now that Davis wants out maybe they could have got him somehow. (I doubt though).

This team is not going to ever be a NBA title contender in my lifetime the ownership is so terrible.

They need to get a high pick and with the new lottery system that is really tough. Could end up with pick 6 or something if they keep winning and be trash.

You need the #1 pick this year to get Zion.

It also is stupid I heard that Kyrie is open to playing with LeBron again if that is true what a D Bag. The loser in all this is us Cleveland fans. We had the greatest player in the world and the franchise blew it. Then we trade a top 15 NBA player away for crap.
