General thread.

This team is still transitioning from the Lebron 2.0 era and things will be much better once Koby rips that bandaid off.

I enjoy watching DG and KPJ develop. Cedi is steady and they have some solid role players in Henson, Nance, Delly, and hopefully Exum.

These rotations are designed to fail imo. Pairing Sexton, Garland, and Love together is a nightmare on defense. Starting Garland from the beginning hasn't panned out, although lately he's been better.

Just too many guys that don't fit with each other.

I was wondering why there wasn't a thread to talk about the team as a whole. Thanks for starting it, Dan.

One of my concerns is who's going to play center next year. I assume TT will sign somewhere else, maybe out west since he seems to like hanging out with celebrities and he has a daughter in L.A., or maybe his hometown of Toronto, although they already have Marc Gasol, Ibaka, Siakam and Anunoby up front.

The Cavs are on pace to win 25-26 games this year if their winning percentage stays the same. It could get better since their schedule is front loaded with more games early against the better teams. Of their remaining 50 games, 36 are against teams ranked 11-30 by The Athletic's latest power poll. So far the Cavs are 10-8 against teams not in the top 10.

If the Cavs end up with 26-30 wins they aren't going to be drafting James Wiseman, who is the only center I've seen mocked in the top 10. The mocks I've seen have him going 1 or 2. It would take a New Orleans Pelicans 2019 ping pong ball to get the Cavs into the top two next year.

So I don't see TT returning and I don't see us finding a center in the draft unless it's a project that we have to reach for. Maybe they can trade down a few spots and still get the second best center without reaching too much. I just know I don't want Love or Henson or Nance playing center 32 minutes a game. They would get destroyed by the more physical centers in the league.

"There’s a lot of promise. I’m hoping there will be leaps and bounds for the second half of the season. Guys will start to figure it out, continue to get better and hopefully that means better results. Like any young players, they just have to be more disciplined. Like with KP, early on I thought, ‘This kid has a chance to be really special, has all the tools.’ You can see flashes and he’s played more under control. The more minutes he gets the better he is going to be. Excited to see where him and the other guys go. - Kevin Love, 1/1/20

Here's to a 2020 filled with leaps and bounds.

"I think that’s going to be a few years before we see [Garland’s full skill set]. It was so hard to tell what we would see, because, again, he didn’t have the benefit of even a college year. He didn’t have the benefit of summer league. He really didn’t have the benefit of a September, we were still really cautious with his injury." - Beilein, 1/2/20

Larry Nance Jr. (knee) will be sidelined for approximately 1-2 weeks after having continued left knee soreness.
He had some knee soreness since Dec. 23, and it's kind of shown given how poorly he's played over the last couple weeks. Nance underwent imaging and evaluation on Friday, and he will now undergo a period of treatment and rehabilitation and his return to play will be updated as appropriate. Nance was already a drop in most leagues, so it's even easier now. John Henson, Cedi Osman and Kevin Porter Jr. gets a slight boost to their values.

So Tyler Cook has been converted to a non guaranteed deal which means he’s likely to play a bit in the next few weeks with Nance out. Would have preferred to have Wades shooting

Wade is coming up for a couple games too beside Cook getting signed. Something must be up.

Tyler Cook won't have to do too much to exceed Nance's production. Give him some minutes and a few weeks to work it out.

Good to know it’s gonna “take a few years” for the fifth fucking pick in the draft to show his full potential. Great selection.
Yeah, most players are superstar positive impact guys during their first year. Russell Westbrook, James Harden, and De’Aaron Fox must all suck.

This was a “no, duh” comment. The vast majority of NBA guards suck during their first year in the NBA. It is by far the most difficult position to transition from college to the NBA.
