2019 Cleveland Browns Regular Season

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Acquiring Nate Solder doesn't exactly get me excited but if it's for a late (5-7) pick then I won't be mad.

Hate to say it, but Greg Robinson is a DUMB player. I apologize if he has some kind of mental illness or disability but he is often out of his league. He makes mistake after mistake on BASIC protections that just shouldn't happen, and I feel like the rest of the team has lost their patience.

I just watched this video of him and it got me thinking:

How many times have G-Rob been saved/helped by Bitonio? Look at the video - amazing help/recognition by Bitonio and Tretter. Will Hernandez (Giants LG) couldn't sniff Bitonio's jock. Would Solder play better next to Bitonio than he has with Hernandez? Will Baker get more confident in his pocket and step up into it more and stop rolling right, since he isn't as worried about his blindside?

I remember watching that 49ers game and the play where Nick Bosa planted the flag... after beating Bitonio and G-Rob. And at the time I was like wtf, how did he beat both of them when they had good position and pushes him far away from the pocket? Then I saw the replay and they both initially blocked him well, and Bitonio made sure he couldn't go left but Robinson just completely STOPPED BLOCKING HIM AND LET HIM GO AROUND HIM TO THE RIGHT. I saw Bitonio's frustration, like wtf dude I made sure he couldn't go this way and you just let him go around you.

G-Robinson loses focus and is just too inconsistent. I wouldn't be terribly shocked if Solder could improve his play next to Bitonio, and I wonder if the sudden urgency is a result of our organization seeing all this film and how G-Rob is a weak link.

At least with Hubbard he's on the right side and Baker can sometimes see when he breaks down.

Never said I’d give up a 2 or a 3
The tweet that you posted said it’s likely to take a 2 or a 3

so if you wouldn’t give that up and the tweet that YOU posted to support your argument says that is what it would take, maybe not the best tweet to post

FWIW PFF grades Kush as by far our worst lineman at 48 overall, 66th ranked guard of 76 qualifiers

I know but it way over rates our 2 tackles. The pressure isnt coming usually up the middle its the end collapsing and Chubb has been running up the middle, that speaks to our interior lineman. Also i have noticed Kush several times doing a good job pulling and being a lead blocker on a end run.

Not sure what pff has been watching, he looks decent, not Zietler. but decent

Dudes a salary cap expert doesn’t mean he knows shit about what kind of compensation it would take.

I agree, Solder is an upgrade. Even if it's marginal, it's an improvement. People are quick to point to his sack numbers but he's also blocking for a rookie who is holding onto the ball.

That said, I hate his contract and that would almost assuredly scare me off if it's not addressed or offset somehow during negotiations.

He also gave up 7 sacks last year with the ultimate old man QB in Eli.

He just isnt at all good any more and if he is an upgrade, it's not worth the money to pay him.

A marginal upgrade and a massive overpay.

However, I will withhold final judgement about Solder until Winslow Jr. shares his thoughts.

He’s a cap save if cut.

Not really.

He costs roughly the same as Robinson the rest of this year, and Robinson is a FA at year's end. And assuming they don't trade/cut Robinson if they did acquire Solder, then you've added roughly 3-4 million.

So really, nothing gained or lost as far as cap numbers.

it gets lost in the noise, but the browns are actually over the cap/right at the cap. Anything you see that says the browns have cap space is actually just carry over space from previous years (because in the NFL if you are under the cap you can carry it over to the following year(s).

so if the browns were to aquire him this year he would dig further into the cap of this year thus subtracting from the amount they use next year.

Not really if they cut G Robs Unguaranteed deal they would save money this season

You're 100% correct on your assessment that Greg Robinson is a bad left tackle in the NFL.

The Rams drafted him at #2 overall and got rid of him.

The Lions scooped him up then got rid of him.

He sucked last year.

I got blasted for saying this last year because "PFF graded him decently!"

PFF's offensive line ratings are atrocious.
