2019 Cleveland Browns Regular Season

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Total Defense Ranks:

Miami: 32
Arizona: 31

That also helps.

I think the Browns have some warts on offense but I seriously don't know what conclusions you draw from Jackson playing absolutely abysmal defenses.

Tennessee and NYJ are both top half of the league in scoring defense.....So the tests have been stiffer for the Browns. I like what the Ravens have done but the first two weeks are a take a guess for me, as to what it actually means for Jackson's development......just because the quality of defense was so unbelievably bad.

Arizona has been really bad, not sure what to call Miami, lol

Showing that teams are near the bottom of defensive rankings, in a two game sample, after playing Lamar Jackson's team, isn't really doing it for me.

I don't think that's the winning argument you think it is.

Miami is awful, though. They're clearly tanking.

We don't exactly know what Arizona is but they nearly beat Baltimore in Baltimore. We'll see how the Ravens perform against the Chiefs.

Overall, I think there was encouraging improvement across the board from week 1 to week 2 for the Browns. But, there's plenty more work to do. Freddie, Baker, Chubb, the WRs need to get on the same page. Gameplanning & playcalling need to be better. Baker needs to take what the defense gives him. We're gonna need to see an even bigger improvement this week to compete with the Rams.

Tough to judge the defense this week since the Jets offense was Bell and college level players. We'll learn more on Sunday.

Apparently you didn't get the memo Jackson is the next great quarterback. Probably going to be better than Brady, Montana, and Graham combined.

I know Mathew Stafford threw for 385 yards and 3 TD’s against one of those teams. So that’s enough for me to pump the brakes a bit.

Love hearing both Baker and Freddie banging the “gotta take more underneath stuff/check downs” and “gotta get the ball out quicker” drums.

Go back to the efficient, quick hitting action from last season. With the better playmakers we have now, we’ll be lethal.

If we come out with more of a 2018 Freddie offensive game plan against the Rams, with the defense playing the way they’ve started to showed flashes...I think we have a legitimate shot to beat them.

Lol, and follows it up with the bulletproof, “Tennessee and NYJ have good scoring defenses in 4 games, half of which were against the Browns...so the Browns are solid” argument. My head hurts.

Agreed.

It's worth noting that the Rams offensive line isn't good, and Goff can often be a statue in the pocket. Countless Rams fans are worried about Garrett.

Not saying we'll win or anything but there is a chance we could make life hell for their offense. But we definitely need to be better to have a chance.

Do you think these moronic straw man arguments make your claim that Jackson is a running back sound any more intelligent?

I hope not.

If this is all you’re going to provide, I suggest you drop it.

Quickly.

Let’s all move on and see what Lamar does against someone with a defensive pulse.

Not to be a Debbie Downer here, and it's really one of the few, legit, arguements when bringing up Baker stats / us finally winning some games last year. Buuuttt Not sure you wanna talk about who has had, as well as, done well/better against stiffer test and what not....

Name the teams Baker has beat that finished with a winning record.

Also, Name the teams the Browns have beat in the last 3 years with a winning record...

Yea. We haven't really shown much either in regards to stiffer competition.

As well as, we, the browns, have beat in the last 3 years with a winning record...

We are also franchises who have been at dramatically different places.

Lamar went in to a situation he could win right away. Competent coach, established front office, quality talent around him, a defense to lean on.

Baker went in to a situation where, quite frankly, it’s a miracle he won very quickly. Hue was a clown show, the previous regime stocked picks but not players, we were trying to thread a rebuild on the fly.....it’s remarkable it worked as well as it did once Mayfield got his bearings.

I’m not a Lamar hater. If you go back and look at draft discussions, I had lots of good things to say about him. I thought he could be a QB at the NFL level. I just want to see how his offseason work translates once game script gets away from them. They played two bad teams, they played from ahead for every second. I expect a competent player to look good in those situations. Let’s see how his habits stick when he starts to face pressure or coverage he hasn’t seen....that’s where it will show up if this first two weeks is just racking up stats against some supremely bad teams or a catapult forward, that will sustain against negative game scripts and better competition.

Does anyone think Mitchell can play safety? It's kind of a waste having him sit on the bench when he could start on most teams.

I feel they could be getting assets for him and Avery. Or maybe use them as part of a package for a tackle or safety

I was never in the "HE'S AN OVER GLORIFIED RB camp". In fact? I rather like him as a player and wish in another world? He was playing for the Vikings so I could fawn over him a bit more instead of having to hear some dork from Glen Burnie thump his chest over it.

They were having bad faith arguments about how he was OROY based on the fact he was in the playoffs last year while trashing the fact that Baker didn't make it.

One player had to go to a team that was 3-13, 1-15, 0-16 in consecutive seasons. Had to deal with coaching drama mid-season and pretty much has had to carry the team on his back.

The other? Went to a team that was 5-11, 8-8, and 9-7 in consecutive seasons. His QB room included a guy with a Super Bowl ring on his finger and his coach also has a Super Bowl ring on his finger.

Doesn't make whatever each of them accomplish any less important. But I wish people would realize that situation and context matters. The whole "WOW! HOW COME LAMAR IS WINNING GAMES ALREADY AND BAKER ISN'T DOING THE SAME" is rather foolish.

It's always weird to me to go "HOW COME WE DIDN'T GET LAMAR" which it feels like I'm going to be seeing this year barring this team kicking it into real high gear.
