2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Start him next to Garland. Have Sexton and Clarkson off the bench (yes, will be utter chaos but no other options) and Delly out of rotation with McKinnie backing up Cedi as a proper back up wing instead of 3 guard line ups then complaining about mismatches post game.

Looks very good. Like this kid. Had some nice moments and played hard.

I think Beilein could rotate out Sexton or Garland early and have KPJ be the first off the bench. Then like you said cut Delly out of the rotation and use Mckinnie more. Spread Sexton and Garland's minutes over all 48 minutes and try to play them together against second unit against long teams.

Really nice overall game from KPJ...snagged a lot of contested rebounds, 7 (!) assists, two steals, almost a great chase-down block, and a highlight reel dunk.

He was a top 10 talent, he just needs to keep his head into it.

I was surprised he only had 5 rebounds. He did something special with each one.

7 assists for the cavs is like 12 assists for any other team, so congrats on your 12 assist game

I just checked and it's the second highest assists in one game of any Cav this year.

(I think we all knew this, but, yikes...we are second to last in league in apg, adjusted per possession or not...second to Portland)

Love - 9
Garland - 6
Delly - 6
Knight - 6
Clarkson - 5
Sexton - 5
Cedi - 5
LNJ - 4
TT - 4

Cavs need to get him more touches and run more plays for him. I think he'd be deadly in the mid-range game

It's slow. Beilein seems to be running more with Cedi and he is having success again. Collin seems very hot and cold. Darius is doing better, but most of the coaching for him seems to be "shoot it" right now.

I wonder if Porter is just gaining the trust of his teammates or if the coaches have given him a little more leash

I think Coach is trying to groom him to play the right way and within the system.

Yeah I agree. Porter is the one you can see it working with. I think coach is strict and as the guys do what he wants, he gives them more rope. I think that is what is happening to Cedi now too.

I've been pleased with Porter's development. I thought it would be Garland that would developed faster but I was wrong. Granted,Garland been playing very well the last couple of games.
