2019 NBA Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Because love is the corner stone of the franchise and he can help the young guys develop into solid fundementally sound players. Vs a rookie that's not gonna do anything. If it was the #2 pick I'd do it.

Sorry, but that’s just crazy. The most value that Kevin Love has to the Cavaliers is as a trade asset, which can potentially bring a talented young player or two that can help accelerate the rebuild. Developing the young players is the job of the coaches, not Kevin Love. The Cavs need another young kid or two, who is a grinder, like Collin Sexton

Who knows what his value is. But lets not kid ourselves Barrett is no where near the prospect Doncic was. Doncic was better in every aspect of the game. Even Barretts strengths Doncic was better at as a prospect and Doncic really didn't have any glaring holes to his game.

This time last year I think there were more questions about Doncic than people have about Barrett right now. I don't think it's as clear cut as we know see it after seeing Doncic play a full season in the NBA.

"Weaknesses

• Athletic ability has come into question. Quick enough off the floor and can elevate for dunks, but relies on his size and change of speeds to get into the paint and finish. Will face an adjustment to the speed of the NBA game.

• Not an elite creator for himself off the dribble. Relies on using his body to shield the ball and change direction. Quicker defenders can get into him and make him uncomfortable. Can be forced into settling for his jumper in isolation situations.

• Shooting just 30% from three-point range this season. Ball looks good coming out of his hand – higher degree of difficulty shots may factor in. Stands to benefit from more open, set looks when placed alongside other playmakers.

• Big and strong enough to stay on the floor defensively, but may have difficulty defending elite athletes on the wing."

I think you are kind of right. The organization would have to be high on two players worth taking #4 and #5. I'm not sure they are that high on two guys that they would give up Love for the #4 pick in this draft and at this point in time. I think if Griff is call Koby to be the 3rd team in the AD trade and wants Love, Koby is probably saying figure out a way to get the Cavs the 3rd pick in a deal with the Knicks. I think they are that high in Barrett and will say #5 can be used also if we can get appropriate value back with #5 and Love for Barrett and an asset or player to bridge the gap in the value given up.

A 3 way deal with the Knicks, Cavs, Pelicans could be

Knicks get AD
Cavs get #3, Kevin Knox, and filler
Pelicans get #5, Dennis Smith Jr, and Kevin Love

Not happening. The Knicks are not in the running for AD. I think they’re going to build on and with the young talent they have. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if they use their cap space to take on a few bad contracts in exchange for some assets. The worst thing they can do is overpay for some mediocre talent, like a Tim Hardaway, Jr.. which they have a history of doing

I hope something good goes down. All these potential trade scenarios have me excited and then it will be so deflating if we just end up picking 5 and 26 and no one wants JR's contract relief.

I think something will go down, but it may not be anything of real significance, like some of us are hoping. It could just be the Cavaliers buying or trading for a second round pick. While teams are reportedly interested in JR Smith’s contract, I don’t know if anyone is willing to give up what the Cavs want to take on a bad contract.

I think it’s the opposite.

We have a ton of interest in the JR contract.

It does us no real benefit to use it prior to draft night. At that point, it’s value is at its highest. Expect a deal on June 20th. We didn’t hold onto him all year to just let it go.

Not happening. The Knicks are not in the running for AD. I think they’re going to build with young players and look to supplement the roster with perhaps a veteran free agent or two.

I think the Knicks going after AD hinges more on who Kevin Durant says he can get to come with him, if he decides to still go to the Knicks. The #3 pick will allow them to jump into the bidding whenever they want. I think the Knicks are waiting to hear from Durant's people because that situation has clearly changed.

If Durant is able to secure a high level star to come with him and is willing to play a year without him, I could see the Knicks pulling the trigger for AD. If it's a Kemba level player or Durant says he is picking up his option with the Warriors, they might say they want to tank another year and develop their young guys.

Here’s the thing though. There are a number of teams, like Atlanta, Sacramento, Phoenix, Chicago, & possibly the Knicks that will soon have cap space, that are also willing to take on bad contracts, in exchange for an asset or two in return. That’s exactly what happened with the Brooklyn-Atlanta deal, which will go down on July 6th. Those teams can actually clear even more cap room as JR’s contract is partially guaranteed for something like $3.5 million. That could be suppressing JR’s market some.

Just be patient. You’ll see.

I’m starting to think that KD will return to Golden State. If he does leave, I see him going someplace like the clippers, as he has a lot of respect for Doc Rivers. I can’t see him going to New York without another star and, at this point, there do not appear to be any other stars that will go with him there.

I hope you’re right. I guess we’ll see. The Cavs have seemingly always been active in trade talks at draft time, but there usually isn’t much action, other than buying a draft pick. Granted, the Cavs haven’t had a lot of draft picks recently to work with.

Those are pretty much the same weaknesses Barrett has, right? I've called Barrett a poor man's Doncic before, and I really like that comparison. Barrett's just a bit worse in every single way.

One was playing in a professional league as a 18 year old and the best player on his team. The other one was playing on a college team against other youths as the 2nd best player. Also notice the reasoning for lack of threes. Would benefit from more open looks and placed along side other playmakers. RJ Barrett was playing next to Zion and got his fair share of decent looks at Duke and wasn't impressive. Barrett's best case is Demar Derozan. And while Derozan is good hes far from someone you go all in on.

I think pre-draft prospect for prospect, they have some similar weaknesses. The shooting from 3. I think people don't question Barrett's athletic ability which was a big question mark for Doncic. I think Barrett's defense is more a question of desire vs having the tools to do it, not sure which is worse though in that situation. I think the biggest question mark with Barrett is if he can play off the ball.

I think Doncic was view more boom or bust because everyone wasn't sure if the competition was making him look good, which is the problem for alot of European prospects. I think if Barrett doesn't become a star, I do think a team will find a role for him and he should have a long career.

People who thought Doncic was a poor athlete, or questioned the level of competition, were mostly uninformed people who didn't properly research him. In reality he's a little bit bigger and more athletic than Barrett, and had more team-level success against tougher competition. Not a knock on Barrett, i have him #3 on my board and would love for him to somehow fall to the Cavs, but he's not the same caliber of prospect Doncic was last year.

The funny thing is I really see Demar DeRozan in Culver as a 110% top ceiling and that's why I question even picking him at #5. I think Culver hitting 80% of his ceiling is him being Evan Turner. The questions the Spurs now have with DeRozan and if they should just move him, makes me question picking Culver even more. I will have to watch Barrett highlights more to see if I see the DeRozan comparison you see.
