Through 5 innings this game looks like a carbon copy of our Playoff series with them last year.
 
Bauers just got hosed on a check call by the 3rd base ump. Hosed.

Something happens when these guys go to Houston. If i remember correctly Verlanders last couple years in Detroit his fastball was more in the 94 mph range and he was trending down. He goes to Houston and its back up to 97/98 again and he is unhittable. Cole was never quite to this level. Hell, Wade Miley is pretty lights out this year.
 
Need our best hitters to stand out a little here.
 
I know we've helped him out at times, but Verlander is dealing.
 
Yeah hopefully we avoid Houston in a 5 game series.
 
Batters are hitting just .173 against him. Not justifying we couldn't use another bat, but, it's not like we're going against some scrub on the mound.

He's such a douche, but no denying he's great.

Team is definitely suspect vs non cupcake teams. There should be concern. One bat won't help either, you obviously need Lindor, Santana, and Jose to swing it and pick up the other guys energy.

We basically need absolutley perfect pitching. What's our record vs +.500 teams again? I would say we're at least down 10 games.
 
We will see how the rest of the series plays out, but this is exactly what everybody is afraid of come playoff time. A lot of easy outs in the line up. Verlander is great, but how many chases for Ks tonight on 3-2 pitches out of the zone?
 
Still got three outs to play with, but we simply just got shut down by a HOF guy, a great setup man, and now we're facing a top-10 closer in baseball.

Shame too, because Bieber, Clippard, and Wittgren all pitched phenomenally against this stacked lineup.
