2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I want to see lineups that win..

I feel like we beat a pretty bad team and it’s easy to get ahead of ourselves....

but... how many games last year did we outscore an opponent by 20+ in a half?
I am happy simply because there is hope. Not expecting playoffs this year but I do next year. Just sad that once Lebrun left both times the rebuild is massive

So, what are some of the lineups everyone’s interested to see?
For me, it’s Garland-Sexton-KPJ-Okoro-Nance — obviously to see a glimpse of the future, but I also wonder if a front court like that, with tons of length and agility but not a lot of size, would work with Sexland.

Also Sexton-Okoro-Cedi-Nance-McGee — to see the defensive potential and if that amount of playmaking would be enough. Could be KPJ for either of Okoro or Cedi.

And I’m really intrigued by the wing combinations. Between Okoro, Cedi, KPJ and Windler, the Cavs have a good crop of prototypical NBA wings, but each of them brings some unique challenges as well, so interested to see how they mix and match.

Not terribly interested in lineups featuring heavy doses of Exum, Drummond, Dotson, Delly. Not that they shouldn’t play, but they are known quantities and pretty much just placeholders.
As for the first lineup, Nance has made it clear he doesn't want to play center. But I could see this lineup if we're playing a team that isn't using a true center, like Golden State with Draymond Green at the 5, for example.

As for the second lineup, that looks good although if defense is what you're going for what are Cedi and Sexton doing in there? How about Delly, Okoro, Nance, Maker, and McGee? Great defense but no O.

The Cavs seem to think KPJ has more upside than anybody so the lineup I want to see is Drummond, Love, Nance, KPJ, and Sexton. A huge front line (offenses would be limited to one shot) and all kinds of scoring potential. Sexton and KPJ can break anybody down off the dribble. We have post-up guys (Love and Drummond) and four 3-point shooters. We have guys who can score in transition (Sexton, Porter, Nance). Pretty exciting lineup, IMO. They would definitely score a ton of points and dominate the glass.

So, is the plan going forward, to start Okoro at the 3? He’s a little SMALL for the 3, right? I still would rather see Sexton-Okoro-Cedi at the 1-2-3. Garland-Exum-KPJ, off the bench, could be lethal, with healthy doses of Nance and McGee spelling Love and Drummond at the 4-5. When Windl3r comes back, he might have to fight for minutes, at the 3. This was his chance, with KPJ out.

I feel like the Cavs have 2 starting quality guys at each position. This is honestly a great problem to have. Ideally they would have complimentary skillsets, but there is some redundancy (Drummond and Mcgee for example). Hope JBB experiments with different combinations and uses our surprisingly deep roster moving forward.

I think the eventual dream would be to start Sexton-Okoro-KPJ and have Garland as a guy that can come in and slow-down the game or speed it up, just depending on what’s going on.

I think starting those three^ alongside LNJ will provide a lot of length and that could bother some of the teams that have a lot of ball movement.

I never want to watch another game where this team uses Andre Drummond as the focal point for extended periods. If Detroit weren’t so in love with playing iso ball this game would’ve been over.

I hate watching he and Love for this team. I’ve historically been a Love supporter but not for this version of the team.

Sexland, Okoro, Cedi and Nance are fun.

The sooner Drummond and Love are gone the better. Will be addition by subtraction.

My goodness please never force feed Drummond in the post like that again. This isnt 2005. In no world does Drummond deserve 21 shots. If we gave him 12 shots this game wouldnt have needed to go to overtime.

He made some good plays including the steal from Rose, but he would be so much better if we werent feeding him like he was Anthony Davis. Give him 8-10 shots a night and let him focus on defense.
