2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Never saw so many concussions. What is going on? Hamstrings too. Everyone's hamstring is hanging on by a thread.

Sure seems like more players are either taking a hit to their heads or falling hard to the court on their skull.
I think the concussion protocols are much stiffer than ever, probably a result of the issue from the NFL.

Yea man even the best of the best superstar players generally aren't ready to give the established teams problems only a few years in.

LeBron in year 3 and Duncan right away are the exceptions, generally.

Zion isn't making the playoffs in year 2 for instance.

When you think of all of the other superstar players, they either took longer to really contend and challenge, or they had stars on their team already. Like Lillard or Kawhi when they came into the league. The only stars on this team next season will be Sexton and/or Garland if they make that leap. There's no one here like Aldridge or Duncan.

So unless the team trades for an established star this off-season, a team led by Sexton and Garland probably is a scrappy fringe playoff team next year (hopefully).

That doesn't mean they top out at that, but I'd say that's the general trajectory.

Yeah, the Cavs are definitely defending the 6th spot, with a outside chance at 5 if Silver forces the Thunder to win a few games. The Kings are being annoying by trying a huge tank, but those 2 wins over the Cavs were costly.

The cynical part of me thinks they are injuries that can’t be readily seen. Perfect diagnosis if you want to tank without tanking. Or maybe it’s just bad luck and compressed schedule taking a toll

If the Cavs could somehow pull off a miracle and trade Kevin Love into space or at least into mostly space and then have the ability to go out and sign McConnell and keep Hartenstein..

A foolish dream, I know.

So who are some wing free agents we can target? We desperately need help, more than just whoever we take in the draft

Kawhi is a superstar, not an above average wing.

I’m actually in favor of following the path of Toronto, Portland, Utah etc. We want to be competitive in the regular season and have a shot to do what the Knicks are doing for example. We still need more talent but we also need more time for the kids to develop.
don't forget toronto had to trade derozan, an all-star, to get kawhi. this is what i'm saying. the cavs are in a position to be like toronto (before championship) with a decent wing, then make a swing for the fences trade once they figure out who the key missing piece is.

The Cavaliers aren't a free agent destination. Looking to sign a primary player that way is a fools errand.

The Pistons are quietly moving up, 3-7 in the last 10. Only a couple games down.

The Wolves have been winning games too. 4-6 over the last 10.

OKC needs to win some games though. Those fuckers are on a 14 game losing streak.

I think very best case scenario from a Lotto perspective, is Detroit, Minnesota and OKC passing the Cavs. But that is asking a lot. But who knows. Maybe things will go their way.

The Cavs may drop to 5th, maybe 4th, worst record.

They're resting players due to a condensed season... LOL. assholes deserve the 8th pick.

Well, Stevens hit his head on the backboard pretty hard so I think his concussion is legit. That used to happen to me all the time. :chuckle:

Hartenstein got head-butted in the face and he was called for the foul. It opened up a gash. Pretty sure that's legit, too. Nance has a fractured thumb. X-rays don't lie. All three were collision injuries as opposed to compressed schedule injuries.

This totally sucks because I've been waiting patiently to see what the final version of this team looks like after the trades were completed and everyone got healthy. We saw that for about two games before the injuries started up again, first with Sexton and now a new rash. All I wanted was 10-15 games with Allen and Hartenstein at center, Love and Nance at PF, Okoro and Prince at SF, and Sexton, Garland, and Delly sharing the guard spots. Was that too much to ask?

Yep.

The upside is it improves our chances for a higher draft pick. All these concussions could be beneficial in the long term.
