2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Are we questioning if Snell is a good shooter? Question the ability to guard bigger SF's with his rail thin body, but dont question his shooting, that is the one thing Snell has got.

And i am calling my shot right now....Snell to Lakers. They need like 10 vet min guys, he will be one of them.
The post I quoted was questioning his shooting.
He's basically a poor man's Prince. When his shot isn't falling, he's not a net positive player and last year he shot a lot less.
I’m not saying he’s a savior, but we currently have zero competent wings and he’s a competent wing.

Snell reminds me of a very poor man’s version of Wesley Person. The guy can shoot pretty well, but he’s not getting quality minutes on a winning ball club.
Do not disrespect Wes Pearson's name on a Cavs forum please.

Snell and Korkmaz could be two guys to split the MLE with. Snell if he doesn't work could be easily traded at the deadline for assets. Teams always need 3pt shooting wings.

You don't want guys playing outside themselves like Cedi last season with that absurd turnaround three after a dead sprint. But you don't want guys who are on the floor for 21 minutes, are career .400 shooters from 3, and only put up 2.3 attempts. One guy is taking all types of shots he shouldn't be, the other guy is passing on shots you need him to take in a contract year in order to boost his percentage ahead of free agency.

I want a guy that can make a three off a kick out. I’m really not looking for anything more than that.

I think Korkmaz will cost the full MLE if we want him. Also more of a long SG than SF, but at 24 years old and an ok defender with the potential to improve and about a 40% 3 point shooter, although he falls in love with the shot.

But he is young, has shown potential and can play SF although not ideal there. Wouldnt hate the move, not sure i love it, but i am guessing we spend the full MLE on him.

Also are we spending the MLE on anyone? After the Rubio trade arent we close to the tax line if we resign Allen?

Koby was talking about definitely using the MLE this year but that was before the Rubio trade. I don't know if we can wait till after Allen is signed to use the MLE, anyone good would be gone by then. I'm not sure anyone really knows how much Allen will get paid.

With Mobley's salary and the Rubio trade we will be at about 106 million. Luxury tax line is 132.6 million. Full MLE is 9.5 million.

I think the Cavs and Allen sign an extension at 6:00 tonight. The Raptors are basically out after that Lowry S&T, the Hornets traded for Plumlee, the Knicks have Randle, and the fifth year should put us over other non-playoff teams.

For the Cavs I want a SF to do more than shoot a three off anything. He needs to be able to create his own shot and defend. There isn't any talent there at all.

If we can’t get enough creation out of the other four spots, we’re screwed regardless of who we use the MLE on.

Ideally, yes. But if you're looking for a SF that can create, defend, and shoot the 3, there's no way in hell you're getting that guy with the MLE. I don't even think there was one of those guys in this draft. Maybe 2 out of the 3, but not all 3 at a high level.

I know it was probably posted already, but Malik Monk is a UFA. Charlotte didn't offer the QO. He'd be a nice get for the MLE.

Thank You! If we can’t get that type of player through FA or trade then we go forward with what we have and hope there is that type of player available to us in next year’s draft!
