2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The more it hamstrings future flexibility, the more assets you require in return. Im a little less worried about keeping cap space because the Cavaliers aren't a destination for FAs. They have to use cap space to get assets in trade to take on bad contracts; which trading Drummond would do.
It’s not about free agents. Notice the term I used. “Financial Flexibility”, that flexibility allows you to swoop in and get someone like Jared Allen. That kind of flexibility allows you to make a trade where you take on a large contract etc...

The Jarrett Allen trade isn't one youre talking about. They traded a player (Exum) for Prince and a TPE and 1st for Allen.

I said the cap space allows us to take on bad contracts for assets...which is what it seems like you're talking about.

With cap space, you don’t have to match salaries hence me saying flexibility. You are doing semantics now or either you don’t understand the concept of flexibility. I’m done with it.

Cavs could do this game over 10 times and I think they’d lose every time. Celts are just plain better everywhere.

Boston is a very good team. They weren't going to lose 4 in a row and they made that clear early and often.

Will be very interesting to see how the team comes out tomorrow.

The Celtics are a good team. The Cavs are young and got full of themselves. Sexton got the star treatment from the Celtics for the first time. Now he has to adjust to being game planned against. The Cavs need the Darius Garland that started the season back and they need him starting with Sexton so the rest of the offense can take advantage of the attention Collin is getting.

As for the defense, I don't know what the fuck that was. Everyone was half asleep.

I'm not upset about them losing.

I was hoping they could split these 4 games against contending teams. So far, they're 2-1.

But the defense is worrying me. They started to slip against the Nets a little, though that's expected.

But tonight...they gave zero resistance anywhere tonight.

McGee is literally the perfect guy to come off the bench and play 15-20 minutes per game behind Allen long-term. I'll be pissed if we trade him and keep Drummond.

If the Nets want McGee, I wonder how much more the Cavs would have to add to get Shamet.

Oh man. If the Cavs could get "God" Shamet on this team. I've been a fan since the Sixers drafted him

Is Shamet any good? I’ve read on nets boards and heard from clippers fans last season
that he can’t get open and doesn’t do anything all that good which is why he’s been struggling...

Losing today is a good wake up call. While making the playoffs this year is not a farfetched idea, the cavs still lack talent. Sexton is a great scorer but his size will limit his ceiling. Losing KPJ is huge since he is a wing player that can create his own shot and can defend (potentially). If Okoro can have a developmental trajectory like Brown then the cavs might have something. This game also shows why the center position is dying. Multiple times boston punished the cavs' bigmen when they switched the pnr. Our guards should learn how to fight over screens and not give up on the switch so easily.

On to the next game against LBJ and AD. I just hope the cavs can keep the game close this time.

If not for Shaq famously clowning McGee, do you think he ever ends up in Cleveland?

Shamet has really been on teams that needed him to be that sharpshooter role. That kind of player is valuable in the nba but he is young and I think he could have alot more potential. The Cavs are a team that can give him more opportunities to expand his game or just use some of the skills he showed in college. It's a low risk gamble to see if Shamet can possible fill that gap that is left from getting rid of Porter.

I'm not sure if any NBA team he has been on so far has asked Shamet to be anything than a role player. It might be a right time right place kind of deal for Shamet to the Cavs which benefits both of them. Cavs need more scoring and I'd rather take the gamble on someone like Shamet than take 2 mediocre second round picks for McGee.

No McGee has been good for several years now. He was a good starter for both the Warriors and Laker title teams.
You just can't expect much from him in the playoffs as most good playoff teams will have a stretch 5 or headhunt him to get him into a bad PnR situation.
