2020-21 Offseason Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

It is going to be an interesting off season...
Meh he will be 37 and coming off his worst regular season since 2015. No such thing as a "big game pitcher" anyways. Wouldn't be surprised if he just retires.

In baseball terms, many teams are desperate for starters...in $ terms, not so much.

Btw the Cardinals declined Kolten Wong's 12 million dollar option.
Safe to assume there will be no revenue sharing this season? Or did that end at some point and I didn't notice it? Can't imagine the big market teams have much to share after losing 162 games worth of gate receipts.
The last discussion I can recall was back in May -- at that point they were planning on suspending revenue sharing in 2020. I did a quick search and found no update.
...and yeah, declining on Wong is a worthy data point.

Doubtful but we’ll see I suppose. No franchise is poised to make that level of commitment at this point in pandemic time.

in 09 during the financial collapse arod and a few others still got massive contracts. Owners will take the short term hit for the elite player.

No surprise the Brewers did not pick up Braun's mutual 15m option, but not picking up Gyorko's 4.5m and going with the 1m buyout is interesting.

three contract options were declined.. including Ben Gamel's.. bringing the total declination to $ 22 MM +/-.. and the band played on...

I wonder if this speeds up the trade and FA process since agents and teams won’t be holding back waiting for the in person meetings to play teams against each other in the large all of MLB setting. Deals still need to make sense and work for both sides, but now there’s no convention setting to wait on to try and put teams against each other and hope someone blinks

I can see the Yankees picking up every single one of these vets who are put on waivers (if they are any good) and trying to win a WS. This past decade was the first time since the 1910's they didnt atleast make it to one WS.
