2020-21 Offseason Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hmm... the only response that seems appropriate to describe the rate of transactions happening might be glacially fast.. The uncertainty of any future revenues and/or consideration of any previous business model that can be or could be relied upon will be history..

It should be noted that anyone who drags their heels when it comes to making a deal.. will find the deal to have gone away like smoke in the wind.. This is contradictory to the way CLEFO makes things happen.. A pessimistic spin might say.. what we have on the team right now.. is what we'll have on the team if training camp opens in 108 days..

..for the Indians.. that means with Lindor.. with our OF and with our starting pitching staff..

Thoughts?

Surprised no one has commented yet but not surprised by the moves. Here they are in clearer form:

Hand not being claimed speaks volumes for what’s in store for the FA’s out there not named Trevor Bauer

Going to be interesting to see how this will effect the Lindor market this offseason

Rule V guys will be the real fun part of this hot stove season.. Seems as if there are just so many spots.. so many good prospects.. so many with ML aspirations that are real..

Example.. the Yankees have at least four (five if you include Osvaldo something or other).. while they absolutely need a spot of DJ Lamehieu.. and have stated they are going to bring back their only LHH OF'er in Gardner..

e.g.. with DJL & Gardy, that puts them around 42 spots.. Trade candidates will/should include Andujar, and maybe more.. Another year without even getting TO the WS.. is just not the Yankee way !.. (and I'm like so many others.. boo hoo'ing that!)

Thoughts?..

in 09 during the financial collapse arod and a few others still got massive contracts. Owners will take the short term hit for the elite player.

Bad comparison. That didn't remove fans for an entire season and cut it short by 102 games, nor did they go into the winter with uncertainty on if/when fans could attend the next year.

Is Cimber gone yet? I’ll REALLY get happy when CIMBER’S gone...
Cimber is entering into his first Arbitration year contract...he has a projected salary of $ 0.875 K.. He appeared in a fourth of the Indians games and gave up more than one run once.. a total of five.. He's not a lights out guy... and can be replaced.. but, most likely, would cost more.. In an off season where there is any way to reduce payroll.. w/ Cimber, the Indians would achieve just that..

...& that's even though every time he goes into a game.. there is little trust from most fans that he'll exit unscathed..

While I know the results were better I quite honestly felt the same way every time Hand pitched as well.

One of the things playing against keeping Cimber is the Tribe having 2 ready/ near-ready relief pitchers that are side-arm/ submarine style.... Nick Sandlin & Robert Broom.

I fully expect Cimber & Delino DeShields Jr to be non-tendered in the coming weeks (if no trade deal could be made involving either).

so the impact financially is $320,000 or so over a minimum wage guy - so if the front office is counting pennies...

They have way better talent to protect than what Cimber is overall. They likely will try to resign him to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training. Honestly Sandlin and Broom have a way better upside and more talent as well. Cimber is a depth guy at the end of the day thats durable.
