But will he hold up his deal of only signing one year deals?

He already talked about that being flexible but my guess is he hedges with a multi year deal that includes some type of opt out after year 1 or 2

With how much he talk about athletes monetizing their social media imprint an impact, not surprising it came down to New York or LA

Dodgers SP options now:

Bauer
Buehler
Kershaw
May
Price
Gonsolin
Urias

And there’s the opt out news

thast one hell of a drop off between year 2 and 3

edit: clearly just an insurance year.

But im curious does 40 million next year make him the highest paid player in baseball?

So much for "only signing 1 year deals"

It’s injury insurance for Bauer. Unless he has Tommy John surgery during/after year two or just implodes with a spectacular failure in both seasons(think 7+ ERA), he will opt out 100%

Well when you get the highest salary ever for a starting pitcher in both years 1 and 2 AND you can in fact opt out after year one or year two, it kind of the same. Yes, the Dodgers do have more of the risk than Bauer, in the event he has a major injury during year 1, but there risk is still significantly less than the teams signing guys to 5-8 year deals with no opt outs.

Obvously a massively deal/win for Bauer but still fits the profile of a one year deal that keeps reward factors up for the player and risk factors down for the club

Indians can barely afford $45 million as a team, and here one of their ex-player's is making $45 for a season.

Yeah.. as soon as the number of years and opt outs and stuff came to light.. the Indians bowed out graciously... So.. no Bauer for the Tribe..
