May i throw out one name for TE coach? Gary Barnidge, he is the only man for the job. By the end of the season he will be both the GM and the Head Coach. We havent had a winning season in 20 years because Barnidge doesnt coach the Browns

You can't force a Renaissance Man like Gary Barnidge into a small pigeon hole of a life purpose like Tight End Coach. That wasn't his life as a player, it won't be his life as a fully realized mench and gad about town. Gary Barnidge has goals. Gary Barnidge has peaks to climb. Gary Barnidge has to live, love, leave, and learn to love again. He also has to fix the fuse box at FirstEnergy Stadium because Baker doesn't know what the fuck he is doing with electrical repair.

I am not saying this will be Gary Barnidge only job, I mean he is being called as a witness in the impeachment trial this week, then he is flying to China to eradicate that virus, then ofcourse he has to cut the grass at First Energy stadium. I think the 10% of Gary Barnidge he has to give to the TE coaching job is 150% of any other normal human being.

Having Barnidge around would take some weight off of Baker's back, as he'd have someone else to help him mow the field and do handy work around the stadium.

It'd have to be a money thing, unless they fire Saleh. Of course, living in San Francisco and working for a Super Bowl-caliber team may be more exciting, but in terms of the career ladder, theres nothing they can do to compete with our offer.

Niners might be thinking Saleh is the heart of the defensive coaches, but Woods came in with the better Xs and Os.

Sure but unless Woods flat out doesn’t want to come here, 49ers would face a ton of heat for:

A: blocking a positional coach who doesn’t call plays from getting a coordinator position calling plays

B: having said positional coach who they are blocking from advancement be a minority at a time where the opportunities and access to the positions that lead to head coaching interviews and consideration is under deserved scrutiny

Just to clear up one thing here...

The 49ers can't *block* Joe Woods from coming to Cleveland because his contract is up at the end of their season. All the 49ers can do is offer him a new contract to stay where he is.

The only way Woods does not become the defensive coordinator of the Browns is if he chooses to sign a new contract with the 49ers. It's entirely in his hands.
