2020 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
In the first case, I am sure bowl teams would take this into account, and most of the time, Wisc will probably get the better bowl, not because of record but because of the brand.

In the second case, that teams one loss would have been to Wisc, as the B10 is still doing divisions and Wisc is facing all the other teams.

I'm not sure how much latitude these bowl games have, but a lot of these bowls are set-up already as like 4th place SEC team vs. 3rd place Big Ten team.

As for Wisconsin, think about it like this. Wisconsin goes undefeated, 7-0. Nebraska goes 6-1.

But Nebraska never got their chance to play Wisconsin and win the division.....see the problem?

If Nebraska beat Wisconsin this weekend, or Wisconsin forfeited the game, that's two 7-1 teams with Nebraska beating Wisconsin head-to-head. They'd win the division.

And that's just the easy example. There are others wherein you COULD have ended up with three-way ties where each team beat the other IF Wisconsin had either played and lost, or forfeited the game.

Welp

Edit - next week is ND/Clemson. Watch ND win that game, have Clemson win the ACCCG, and both make the CFP.

Works for me if OSU runs the table. Maybe luck into 1 seed and get ND.
Now this I can get behind.

However, I believe Bama is likely to stay ahead of OSU as long as they stay undefeated.

For the love of God keep Fields in a bubble between games.

Agreed, although after Penn State this weekend I think Ohio State can manage to win against their next 5 opponents with Stroud/Miller at QB lol. Not saying I want to see that at all, but that's more of a statement about how easy their schedule is between Penn State and Michigan.

I do remember that Fields took all online classes last year so he could focus more on football. I'd assume he's being cautious....I hope.

This.

Without Fields, we still might be the best team in B1G. But with him, we for sure are.

If the Big Ten didn't have the stupid 21 day quarantine based on some really shitty science that they peddled about heart conditions, then I'd say Fields would be better off just getting the damn thing this week and moving past it.

I mean what's he supposed to do? No women, no parties, no family gatherings??

Some interesting noon games going on.

BC up 21-7 against Clemson. Just returned a fumble 99 yards for a TD.

MSU up 14-7 on Michigan.

Georgia up 7-3 on Kentucky.

All 2nd quarter.

Boston College bringing it to Clemson sans-Lawrence so far. If they lose to BC and ND and don't get the ACC title, does the committee give them a free pass because their real QB got COVID?

Also, MSU up on UM after losing to Rutgers (no butt for now). Minnesota getting upset must have got in their heads. :chuckle:

See, this is my complaint about Wisconsin getting the NC. I bet Clemson wishes they had just taken a No-contest right about now??

NCAA did a poor job of figuring out how to institute nationwide rules as to how all of this works.

Anyway, Cincinnati looks really good again and I truly believe they are firmly in the playoff mix in this weird season.
