2020 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
UNC ran for....554 yards today.

RAN

FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR

I've never seen a number like that.

Clemson lucked out they didn't get them on their schedule. And I've been slowly coming around, but I now think Notre Dame is truly legit. They controlled that offense when no one else could.

I could easily see ND losing by a fairly big margin in their 1st game of the playoffs, so I'm not going to be some homer alumni. But I think ND should finally be given enough credit. They handled a very good NC team, and they beat a Clemson team that was as good as you can imagine without Lawrence (their backup played as close to impactful as Lawrence as you possibly could). They have a very good offense with an inconsistent but at times very good defense.

Thank you LSU! Assuming OSU takes cares of business next weekend (they will)... that should just about lock up that playoff spot regardless of what happens elsewhere.

Nothing like a little shoe toss to basically lose the game.... jesus christ.... smh...

Assuming we’re still ahead of Texas AM (why wouldn’t we? Neither played and their best win for worse), then beat NW and in.

Lets play devils advocate and even say A&M goes to 4 and we go to 5. Next weekend OSU plays a top 15 ranked team for a conference title and they play 2-6 Tennessee. OSU would jump them based off the strength of their win and claiming a conference championship.

I don’t see a path for A&M to get in unless OSU loses to NW or Clemson loses to ND.

If TAMU was going to jump OSU, it would have happened by now.

No way it happens if OSU beats #14 Northwestern in the B1G CG while TAMU is playing against a dogshit Tennessee team.

TAMU vs OSU for the 4th spot is fake drama. Always was.

OSU is in with a win.

No.

If OSU is in a real tight squeaker Florida will still get in with a win over Alabama.

They aren't leaving Alabama out for a 6 win OSU team.

And they aren't leaving out the SEC champs that beat them for a 6 win team if OSU doesn't look impressive against NW.

Remember, the committee thinks Georgia is a good bit better than Northwestern. If FLorida has wins over them and Alabama...OSU needs to dominate this game.

And honestly I simply couldn't blame them. Ohio State avoided a lot of chances to lose a game like that by..just not playing nearly as many games.

Yeah, I'm gonna disagree on that one. Argument will be moot in a week, but if OSU beats Northwestern, Florida is eliminated. They're done.

Maybe the only consistency we've seen with the CFP rankings over the years is that # of losses matters more than anything, by far.

I expressed my issues with that in the past, but the system is the system. For ONE year, SEC and ACC teams got to see what it was like to play more conference games than the other conferences instead of less. Pretty cute to see them crying about it. I'm sure they cannot wait to go play their 4 FCS cupcakes again per usual next season.

Florida isn’t beating Alabama so at least we don’t have to be concerned about that lol. LSU isn’t..good. And they couldn’t...win. I know fuck the transitive argument and all that but I really struggle with Saban allowing fucking Florida to get in his way at this point.

Someone take me off the ledge. If OSU wins the Big Ten Championship they are in the playoffs right?

Make an arguement for 2 loss Florida? More games played, cool. they still lost to an abysmal LSU team.

That leaves Alabama, ND, Clemson and...

undefeated OSU
possibly undefeated Cincinnati
Texas A&M

Yup, just win and you should be in.

The committee has never once put a 2 loss team into the playoff. I don’t see that changing now especially in a year when teams are playing less games than any year prior.

At the end of the day I don’t think it matters. Florida isn’t beating Alabama. Ohio State isn’t losing to, let alone struggling with, Northwestern.

The committee has said all along its job is to put in the 4 best teams. It’s no fault of Ohio State they’ve played such few games between being stuck in an inept conference and having teams cancel on them. This wasn’t what they wanted. No unbiased, logical person actually believes Florida or A&M is better than Ohio State. Especially after last night.
