2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

So Chernoff is as good as gone. Things are going from bad to worse.
They will probably promote from within: Carter Hawkins.

He's from NY. The Mets can offer much more money, and are competitive. Would you want to work for the Indians in their present condition?

Well the Indians are one of the better run organizations and he would be going from an organization that he knows well and is well run to something that will be unknown actually. So will he get the promotion and pay increase from them that increases his pay enough to work in the unknown?

Well... considering the amount of front office talent the Indians have lost in the last five or so years, I think they’ll be fine.

I certainly wouldn’t be excited to see Chernoff leave, and I don’t think it’s certain that he’s gone, but we’ve seen multiple high ranking guys leave relatively recently and the Indians haven’t missed a beat.

The top of the Indians leadership pyramid is as strong as you’re gonna find anywhere.... and yeah that includes the Dolan’s; people love working for them. The Indians do an incredible job in training and developing their front office personnel— not just so they’re attractive to other clubs but so they’re ready for when there’s a promotion within the organization— the Indians way is already ingrained and in lockstep with everybody else inside the organization and keeps this operation running smoothly.

Yep. And you have to have advancement opportunities regularly in order to keep the pipeline humming.

In the corporate world , we call it succession planning and the Tribe FO appears to do this quite well.

Sandy Alderson naming himself President of Baseball Operations

Not saying he's bad, far from it, but it's always LOL funny to see someone hire himself after interviewing a bunch of candidates
