2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So who fills the void at SS mid summer or in March 2021? We’re only replacing one of the best in the world?
This summer huh? You really think we’re going to be out of the hunt by summer? Such bs.

Interesting that Lindors comments come out so shortly after the rumors of him being on the market pop up. Just hope this divorce ends up amicable. It is kind of cool That this next generation of MLB player is looking to change up the game the way they are though. Wonder if the other young guys get on board shaving years of control and if they are willing to give in on what it will take for owners to agree to that- which I think would have to be a cap.

The Indians can keep up this winning tradition and competing in the AAAA Central if they move Frankie now. I would hate to see him go but there is no way we can afford him. Maximizing his trade value now makes the most sense. Indians will get an incredible return for him and keep this team relevant for years to come. Can JD just go back to posting on the old dawgpound website @The Oi ....

Off the wall type question. Cleveland is one of the smallest markets with all 3 major sports teams. We saw when the Browns left in 95, everyone flocked to the Indians for 455 straight games.

HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING - if the Cavs ever left town, do you think the Indians would see an increase in attendance and more fan interaction than Tribe Fest and weekend games?
10000%. I love the Cavs more than others (thanks Lebron), but I often wonder how this city would handle 2 pro sports & maybe something smaller like an MLS team vs having the Big 3. The only thing is, the Q is the only arena to generate a ton of revenue year round.

I dont want to lose Frankie, but the writing is on the wall.

I am all for these guys trying to earn as much money as possible and control themselves more, but there needs to be a compromise. Cap or max contracts. Otherwise a third of the MLB will get priced out. We will be looking at deep playoff runs every 20 years. While some (Rays, Diamondbacks, or White Sox) will only see them every 25-30.

Hoynes just mentioned Cesar Hernandez and Jose Peraza as two possibilities for the Tribe in his latest column. Count me in for the former and not so much the latter. Hernandez has averaged a 2.7 fWAR and a wRC+ of 102 over the past four seasons and is only 29. Peraza has yet to produce a wRC+ of over 96 for a full season and had a miserable OBP last season of .285 last season. A -0.7 fWAR in 2019 to boot.

Cole to the Yankees
Nine years at $324 million

I think we will get one of the guys available in the INF this off season in some capacity. Shaw looks like it could be tough getting him on a minor league invite, but guys like Duffy, Gyroko. Souza, Peraza etc since we may be able to get those guys on minor league invites with incentives rather than a MLB deal. I think in season if we still need help somewhere then we will do the Jay Bruce style of deal to bring in another bat, but I think mostly for now we may look to replace Naquins production, but I think its the NRI guys who are reclamation projects who will be able to make this ball club this offseason.

Which Cole will Yankees get? The guy who had 1 good year in Pittsburgh over 5 seasons or the guy who magically became elite in Houston? This could possibly go down as the worst contract ever if Yankees end up with Pittsburgh Cole.

Cole will definitely regress in that tee-ball park that the Yanks play in. Plus he’s getting away from Houston, an organization that makes all pitchers into Cy Young guys.

He’ll still be good to great, not worth that insane money though.

Idk. His numbers took a drastic spike in Houston. I see this going horribly. Fly ball Pitcher in that stadium. His strikeouts will also likely go down. Went from a career high of 9.0 K per 9 IP with Pittsburgh to 12 and 13 per 9 IP with Houston. That seems like it won't be sustainable. Maybe he really did improve. But I wouldn't have bet 324 Million on Houston Cole being the real Cole.

Teams where really willing to dish out the money for starters! Sad part is the amount they are paying for Cole equals the amount the indians are paying for almost their entire pitching staff..
