2020 Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Didn't Beilein quit? Why are we signing his boys.

Dunno.
Its like we are passing on young guys with upside that have yet to get a chance in favor of players with no upside in a position of no need. Why?
We always do that.

Guessing it’s just training camp fodder. You can take 20 to camp. It’s not going to be a guaranteed deal.

Guy started out at Kentucky and ended up at Michigan. Undrafted last year and have no idea what he did but assuming he played overseas

Sure, but could have signed better fodders with at least a chance to stick.

Looks like the reason he wasn’t drafted last season is he tore his ACL last June(17 months ago) during a pre draft workout for the Celtics just one week before the draft.

Decent size though for a guard. 6’6” (6’9” wing span) so if he’s healthy might now be bad as a 2 Way guy or just someone to get on the Charge and track his development

He is 24 with zero offensive game. He has defensive upside but he's not a NBA talent.

I get the feeling that if Jordan Bell and McKinnie were Free Agents, more than half the board would be saying we need to take a flyer on them both.

Thats commentary, not me saying either is good or will amount to anything

I think we could still use a vet backup PG. Not interested in resigning Delly despite his toughness.
I've always been a fan of Reggie Jackson. He was a backup last year with the Clippers. Maybe Drummond could recruit him.

I think we need a more defense first option for our Vet PG not another score first type.

Michael Gansey was one of Beileins former players at west virginia and is our Assistant GM. He was the one that pushed for Beilein and still is very close to him and his family. My guess he has interacted with alot of the michigan players while Beilein was there.

I’m posting Cavs news as information. Nothing else.

The fact the the only guy reporting this is a college basketball analyst for the recurring sites(vs WOJ/Shams/Fedor/Russo/etc) is enough to indicate that the guy is likely training camp invite. Training camp has 20 spots and needs enough players so you can run some full team scrimmages. I wasn’t presenting this as some important FA acquisition or opining that he’ll make the team.

To add to this, finding undrafted players is a combination of luck and cycling in guys to just see if they can stick. The odds of a undrafted player becoming even a borderline rotation player is real low. My guess is that the Cavs will cycle in alot of undrafted and g-league players this season since they aren't close to the luxury tax and hope one or two will stick.

I realize that. But we only get to bring 20 guys into camp. I would have preferred the bottom of the roster be younger or more talented given that they will likely be on the Charge when they get cut. Much better projects out there then a 24 year old defensive player who can't shoot from college 3 point land coming off a torn ACL.
