2020 Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wouldn't surprise me if they brought him back
They have Sexton, Garland, Porter and Exum. I don't know if they need a 5th guard. With two new small forwards coming on board in addition to the holdovers I think Porter will strictly be a guard this year. The Cavs need to go full development mode on Garland and Porter which means as many minutes as possible. I would be surprised if they signed Delly but I wouldn't mind a bit.

The Cavs have only one center on the roster but are logjammed at SF with Okoro, Windler, Cedi, and McKinnie. They are flush at PF with Love, Nance, Wade, and Bell. They're fine at guard with Sexton, Garland, Porter, and Exum.

As I see it they need to sign a backup center and get rid of a small forward. None of those four can play other positions.

Exum shouldn't be playing anyway. He's nothing more than an expiring contract to be used in a trade. Of course I don't know how much Dellavedova should be playing either. I do like him showing the young kids how to play the point though.

I thought the idea was to move away from traditional position designations these days. The way I see it we have 3 guards who will need time (sexton garland exum), 3 wings (okoro porter windler), 3 forwards (nance cedi mckinnie) and 2 bigs (love drummond). So we need one more big guy (TT?) And maybe another guard.

The Cavs have so many guard guards/wings, and with Exum's health always being an issue, I think it's imperative the Cavs bring in a veteran guard as a safety net... Not only to mentor our current players but be able to run a second unit as needed.. Delly would really be a perfect fit and I'd be happy to give him a 2-3 year deal to do so...

In addition, our backup center spot is really thin... I assume they plan to go more small this year with some Love/Nance/Bell at the 5, but the Cavs could afford to take a gamble on a young-ish player not knowing where Drummond will be next year and Love's health issues... Chris Boucher, Harry Giles, Skal Labisserie, Willy Hernangomez are all interesting from a talent/age perspective, but I'd be just as okay with bringing John Henson back on a one-year deal..

I really hope we go after a vet PG either in trade or free agency to help teach these young guys. Not delly. We need someone who’s played for a while at a starter level. They don’t even need to be good anymore. Just a real mentor.

Kevin, Tristan, & Larry Nance have been serving that role as veteran mentors. That may be enough as long as the guards are getting good coaching.

That’s all well and fine but they need a vet guard. Someone to teach them about passing and running an offense.

What this team needs is something they don't have and is only going to get it a through a trade......a real scorer (somebody who can shoot and create off the dribble along with opening up scoring opportunities for others) that can take over games for us when the offense becomes stagnant. Contrary to popular belief that is neither Sexton, KP or Garland.

We're not getting much veteran leadership out of them now are we?

So how much salary do the Cavaliers have to spend in free agency? None or very little?
