I agree with this, but I think the larger issue is allowing Sandy to even appear at the plate in that situation.
Don't disagree but I'm sure they would have preferred Perez have the entire day off. I would assume that was the line of thinking.
Tribe have been notoriously bad at bunting over the years and catchers are generally pretty terrible at it. But I hear you.
Baseball players in general have become bad at it because it is not a priority any longer.
And that is a cop out to let players off the hook for not being able to execute one of the most fundamental parts of the game. I understand what you are saying because the bunt is not a part of the game any more but that doesn't make it right. And, as you have seen, it may cost us.
