Jalen Green is problematic as a prospect to me. There are several reasons for it.
Firstly, intangibles. He doesn't have them. He plays for himself only. He lacks leadership. He doesn't work on the floor.. he just free roams and takes ill advises shots all night. Sometimes they fall, sometimes they don't...it's never in the flaw of the offense. For the record, the Rockets miss proper PG play...but I think that's his own tendency, although it probably exacerbates things.
He is very weak and it shows on both ends; Offensively, he just can't finish inside despite his athleticism. The reach and lack of strength is a huge issue. And his frame isn't really good to add on some good pounds. Get this, he has yet to attempt a FT in 4 games. He barely goes inside and when he does he avoids contact. He just settles for really tough shots behind the arc for most of the time.
Defensively, he gets bullied. There were a few instances when Doncic actually wanted to play hard and Jalen was on him and Luka basically made him his bitch in the post. From the top of the key to under the basket in a sec and he had to foul. He can't guard any switch and he isn't too good defending his own position either.
He is a putrid rebounder. That even goes back to the intangibles...cause the dude is kind of an astronaut. He loses his assignments and I have seen teammates actually tell him who to guard multiple times because he had no idea. So as far as rebounding goes, he doesn't box out.... he just stands there and actively spends his time outside of the action. He is also a target for backdoor cuts because of how zoned out he is.
I dunno... he is super streaky, and he relies soley on his jumpshots, and even when he is on, it still feels like he lacks the impact because he gives up a lot on the other end and his scoring so far doesn't seem to be a part of the actual offense.
IF Koby really wanted to pick him ahead of Mobley, Cavs got really, really lucky. He doesn't fit with any of our guards. That would have been a monumental failure.
