2021 Around MLB: Return of the Dead Ball Era

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Another thing that will be interesting @Gson is if they will really enforce position players putting on the ball for the pitcher.

Supposedly, if the umps suspect a position player is putting on for a pitcher, they are suppose to eject them also. And that happens much more than one would think. Was talking to a pitcher this weekend that he will throw the ball to his third baseman often to get an applications. So you got a man on and the game is on the line. You pick to what ever base the runner is on, get an application and then go after the batter.

And I am not sure what they will do about hair, because it acts like a scrub brush. And they are talking after the pitcher leaves the mound, during commercial breaks is when the checking is going to happen. So you put the right solvent on your scalp, when the inning is done you take off you hat, give a big sigh of relief, act like you had an itch, give you hand a good cleaning with the solvent, and stickiness is gone before the ump can greet you.

Maybe MLB wants to justify the umps existence. Then they won't be able to replace them with "robot umps".
Maybe this is the plan to give them something to do after they put in robot umps. They are transferring them to the MLB police state squad from the umpiring union.

I see where we have our first "stickey stuff" controversy brewing

lmfao.....amazing how guys survive for 15 -20 years before getting to the big leagues without using the stuff and now somehow that is the cause of their injury.

Bauers has more hits in a week with Seattle than he did in 3 years in Cleveland.

Pitchers’ bodies move in unnatural ways to propel a baseball at speeds approaching or exceeding 100 mph.

Yeah, any slight tweak can lead to overcompensation, which can obviously lead to injury.

Like dust on a microchip.

I think Glasnow is spot on, and I’m expecting an increase in pitcher injuries over the remainder of the season.

Yea sorry, feel no sympathy for them. They either got there without cheating so go back to whatever you were doing or B. they cheated their way to the bigs and now don't know how to react. I feel so bad for them lol.

I never asked you to feel bad for them. Just explaining why Glasnow is correct.

Yea no. If it was going to cause such a problem then maybe he should have taken some bullpen sessions to work out the kinks so he didn't injure himself. Orrrrrrrr, maybe he shouldn't have cheated in the first place. Either way, feel so bad for the guy lol.

There is a massive difference between Spider Tack and sunscreen/rosin. If he was truly only using sunscreen as I have read, then it isn't this massive cheating thing you are making it out to be. Not even close.

My guess is that many pitchers are now obsessed with increasing the spin rate so without the assistance of some foreign substance they are trying to generate it with their hand and arm instead and that has pushed the unnatural stress on their body past its breaking point.

illegal substance is illegal substance is it not? If the speed limit is 55 and I'm driving 80 and you are driving 60 we are both still speeding correct?

and?

Look, I get the stress on the body. Throwing the ball without trying to do anything to it at 95-100 mph is putting stress on the body, then add in twisting and turning and whatever else they are doing and it's a recipe for disaster. My point is they broke the rules and now they want to cry that that is causing injuries. For the record I don't have a problem with them using the sticky stuff just like I didn't have a problem with the roids if that's what they choose to do but don't come crying to me when it goes bad.

"illegal is illegal' is just black and white, and shows a lack of understanding of what is going on, what hitters say they do not care about and actually support(sunscreen/rosin) and what they say is actual cheating(stuff like Spider Tack).

Your own example of the speed limit being 55MPH, and that driving 60MPH and 80MPH are both speeding regardless of the difference in speed is an excellent example. Correct, both are actually speeding. Expect a cop is going to let you pass for doing 5MPH over the limit, the vast majority of the time not even bothering to pull you over. That same cop is going to ticket you for going 25MPH over the limit, possibly even getting you for reckless op. See the difference now? One is trivial, the other is egregious.
