We need another batter regardless if they are a two hole or a 5 hole hitter..

Canha has more WAR in two less seasons than Garcia... plus more walks, so if I leaned towards consistency, Canha 100% of the time is my target plus he plays 1B and hits from the right side, something Garcia has never done...

That being stated... Garcia was the better fielder in 21 and has improved that a fair amount in 20-21 while Canha is going the other way when it comes to defense. Plus Canha is 3 years older so when Canha starts regressing it is hard to say.

Neither guy to me is a sure bet, one cause of consistency and the other cause of age factors... with the young roster, I'd rather go Canha than Garcia personally...

I'd like to double down on that type of hitter. Sign Garcia then trade for Renfroe. We'll get some exciting baseball for a change and we'd keep our best prospects.

Amed isn't a 2 hole hitter, his OBP% was .321 and I don't expect it to go up... Canha's OBP% was .357... OPS+ for Amed 99... for Canha 111...

One thing we didn't have in the lineup is just honestly a steady Eddie in a sense at the top. Canha will provide that for us...

Also it's not like we cannot get more than one guy. Also Garcia is likely to merit more years and I am not sure that is what the FO wants right now In a free agent signing of likely over 10 million...

Do we have a legit and signable target in free agency you think? This crop of free agents is on the thin side so its not as small market friendly that way. You don't have to say any name, I just think we want the piece of mind that we are definitely trying to get someone that can make a difference for us...

If Detroit isn't careful their 2022 draft might have a 1st round pick and nothing else until either round 4 or 5...

They don’t care, not after picking in the top 5 for 4 straight years. Old man Ilitch paid out the ass to try to win one before he passed, now his wife is trying to do the same.

Not a good year to miss out on draft picks/choices.. The 2022 draft class is pretty well loaded for both college and prep players.. It is one of the stronger drafts in a while..

I can't believe that some fans STILL clamor for Hunter Renfroe. He was the big name that everybody wanted us to trade for after the 2018 season.

If we are talking about NEED, we need OBP, as has been shown over and over. Some guys who can get on base, one of which bats ahead of JRam.

We don't need more home runs. We ranked 7th in the AL in HRs.

We need to improve in contact rate, BBs, and BA. If we do that, the runs will take care of themselves.
