2021 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So, is beating them by 7 really that good of a win for Georgia?
This goes to my earlier point...Georgia's offense is just not good. Yes, their defense might be all NFL players but their offense is bad. They're far from unbeatable.

This is one of the most insane days of college football scores I think I've ever seen.

Hopefully the insanity avoids OSU Tonight.

Would be amazing if OK State can take down Oklahoma when they play since they just took an L.

I do too...Georgia's offense is wildly mediocre, which bodes well for our defense.

And I think our offense is more than capable of scoring points on them, despite them having the best defense in CFB.

Not afraid of Georgia at all.

Yup. If any offense can dethrone Georgia’s defense it’s Ohio State’s. Would be a fantastic matchup between the best offense in the country versus the best defense in the country. And then a mediocre offense versus a mediocre defense.

Another reason I don’t fear Georgia much is Kirby Smart pisses down his leg in every big moment. And Georgia/Atlanta sports overall, for that matter.

Cincinnati barely beat an awful Navy team yesterday. And it's not like they just got unlucky with turnovers. Turnovers were even, and Navy actually outgained them in total yards, and had 22 first downs to Cinci's 14.

I'm honestly not high on Cincy or Oklahoma. I think both OSU and Bama are better, but I still felt weird about dropping them too hard after this week in favor of one loss teams.

This upcoming week:

Ohio State vs. Penn State
Alabama (BYE)
Cincinnati @ 1-6 Tulane
Oklahoma vs. 5-3 Texas Tech

If Ohio State blows away PSU and Cincy/Oklahoma struggle with their favorable matchups, I'll probably make the swap.

Cincy plays Tulsa in 2 weeks. OSU beat Tulsa by 21. If it's a 1 score game, that's 2 common opponents that OSU would've beat by significantly more than Cincy did.

Navy's offense is kinda built to amass a lot more first downs than most offenses because they rarely throw the football or have big plays. I wouldn't be surprised if they often had more first downs than their opponents actually. If they move 80 yards, they probably have like 6-7 first downs and other teams might have half that.

I know -- that's my team. But they're pretty terrible this year. When they're not terrible, they can dominate middling teams with the triple option, but upper-tier teams simply have too much speed for the triple option to be as consistently effective as it needs to be to sustain the long drives necessary to score.

But this year's Navy team is not that good. They've been losing to all those middling teams because they just don't have the personnel this year to run the triple option well consistently. Yet, the 20 they scored against Cinci is the 3rd most they've scored all season. And I mentioned the first downs only to show that the fact that Navy outgained Cinci in total yards (308 to 271) wasn't because of a fluky big play or two. Navy actually managed some offensive consistency.

And defensively, they've been particularly bad. They're 1-6, and gave up 28 or more points to Marshall, UCF, Memphis, Houston, and SMU. Cincinnati only scored 27, and that beat only the 23 Air Force managed to score against Navy.

It's just an extraordinarily unimpressive performance by Cinci.
