Zach Harper has a mock in The Athletic with Houston taking Suggs and the Cavs taking Mobley. Here's the Cavs' write-up:
Mobley as the guy for the Cleveland Cavaliers at No. 3 feels like a no-brainer. He’s going to be a really nice prospect to develop because of his versatility. It’s a little complicated with the Jarrett Allen presence on the Cavs, assuming they re-sign him in restricted free agency this summer, but the hope is that both guys can play a mix of on the perimeter and around the basket. We’ve seen Allen flirt with a 3-point shot in the past. Mobley will likely need some significant development with his shooting to feel comfortable there.
The Cavs can also re-sign Allen and go with a rotation of him and Mobley for a couple years until it’s obvious that Mobley needs to be the full-time guy. While his shooting is still a work in progress, the potential is obvious. He can hit little pop jumpers out of a pick situation and eventually that comfort should extend to 3-point range. Mobley’s going to be a monster in the PnR, both scoring around the hoop and making plays for others. Defensively, he’s going to be a difference-maker, and maybe the rare rookie who is good right away at it. Mobley is a franchise big man in the making.
Is a trade possible? Koby Altman has been very aggressive in trading during his time, and I do think the Cavs would be open to a trade if it brings them back a significant veteran to help them start winning. I just don’t think there is an obvious deal unless someone like Toronto wants to get squirrely.
I would love it if the Cavs got Mobley and put him at the 4 with Allen at the 5. Nance would move to the 3 along with Prince and Windler. Okoro moves to the 2 and the 96 backcourt minutes are shared by Garland, Sexton, and Okoro.
Another option would be to put Mobley at the 5 and either trade Allen or let him walk next year and use the $80-$100 million in savings to sign a veteran that fits with the young core of Mobley, Okoro, Garland, and Sexton. The best move would be to trade Allen now and let Mobley and Hartenstein handle the pivot this season.
If the Cavs see Mobley's ultimate best position as power forward I would just put him there now and run with a lineup of Allen, Mobley, Okoro, Garland, and Sexton with Love, Nance, Hartenstein, Prince and Windler off the bench. They would just need a backup point guard.
As for a possible trade down, Harper had this under Orlando's #5 pick:
Is a trade possible? Magic should be locked in with the fifth pick, although there’s always the chance they want to get someone like Jalen Suggs or Evan Mobley. If that’s the case, would Cleveland be willing to move down for No. 5 and No. 8 as the initial framework of a deal?
Harper has the Magic taking Kuminga at #5 and 6'5" Keon Johnson, owner of the all-time NBA Combine vertical jump record of 48", at #8, giving them an "insane athletic lineup".
Would the Cavs give up a Mobley (since they have Allen) or a Green (they have Sexton at the 2) for the 5th and 8th picks, giving them two insanely athletic talents to mold? Kuminga would give them the young, high upside power forward they need while Johnson gives them the taller guard they also need. We don't know if Orlando would offer the 5 and 8 for the 3, but it would be very interesting if they did.
However, Altman made it clear it will be very hard to talk the Cavs into trading the pick.
