2021 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
2nd best C prospect in the system behind Naylor. If they move Naylor off of C to protect his bat, which there is a real chance they will, him and Yainer Diaz are the 2 guys who matter at that position in the short-term.

He can hit (not for much HR power right now), he calls a good game, manages his pitchers well, blocks pitches well, speaks both English and Spanish which is huge, and has a good arm. Just a high floor, solid C prospect to me.

Diaz is an offense first guy. Dude can absolutely hit. Has a big arm too, but he is rough around the edges everywhere else. Him and Lavastida got a lot of one-on-one time with Sandy Alomar this Spring, will only help them moving forward.

I mean I would take what it looks like a .280ish hitter with limited power from the C spot any day of the week with solid defense. That what he looked like to me from watching him. He's got a hit tool similar to Miller/Freeman type it feels like.

That scorekeeper was hoping for a call up to Akron this year...not a great start, but he still has time. :chuckle:
While Akron was the hopeful destination from Lynchburg in 2019, now its getting to Lake County. :coffee:

With the minor league season finally underway, Bleacher Report finally put out it start of season farm rankings.

Farm System Snapshot
There may be no farm system in baseball right now with a more impressive collection of lower-level talent than Cleveland, with nine of their top 10 prospects 21 years old or younger. That doesn't include Josh Wolf (20), Lenny Torres (20), Carson Tucker (19), Gabriel Rodriguez (19) and others positioned just outside the top 10 list.
That gives this system some serious potential, though it also comes with a certain level of volatility given most of those players have limited professional experience and still need to prove they can handle a higher level of competition. With elite on-base ability and budding power, Nolan Jones could be knocking on the door after the All-Star break.

Is he really tall or does it just like that because his batting stance is so upright?

He's listed at 6'2 and 180lbs, but technically he is still young enough to put on a bit of height from that time. I am guessing it's his upright stance, since we don't have any context on how tall the ump and catcher are

I will fuel his hype train until I run out of gas.
Since I never watch minor league baseball I never saw a home plate umpire sprint out into the infield after the ball was hit. Then he appeared to be shadowing the batter as he circled the bases. Do they only have one umpire?

I think in the lower levels they have a plate ump and a field/1b ump like in little league = but don't quote me on that.

He ain’t what he’s listed.

6’4 to 6’5 with real long arms and legs.

He just has such a smooth, simple swing at such a young age and generates huge power with it. Typically don’t see that with teenagers, they like to swing out of their shoes.
Just FYI for everyone, Alexfri Planez is eligible for the R5 draft this season if not added to the CLE (or in the event of trade another team's) 40 man roster by mid Nov 2021..

Interesting lineup arrangement with Lake County today (5/5/21).

Aaron Bracho is the DH hitting 5th.
Brayan Rocchio is leading off & playing 2B.
Raynel Delgado is playing 3B & hitting 6th.
Jose Tena is at SS & hitting 8th...

The other Logan Allen is perfect through 4 innings with 7 K. Don't know if he's done for the night.
