2021 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't see Vargas going on the 60 day IL.. Just my gut feeling on reading how Tribe does things.

Really think Blake Parker is on a short leash...
If a non-40 pitcher gets added, suspect its Justin Garza..

I'm not gonna disagree there, I don't expect him to be switched to the 60 day DL, but no one would blame them either to add another arm with how Nelson pitched...

What do you think of McCarty overall? Any chance of at least being a swing man like a Plutko?

Honestly, Garza might get to (or a touch beyond Plutko). I'd take Plutko on a regular basis instead of Kirk McCarty/ Shane McCarthy/ Juan Hillman...

I would agree.. Send down Kyle Nelson, but the Tribe can go a number of different ways to replace Nelson. Moss & Garza add innings. I believe Moss is slated to start on Saturday
Logan A Allen pitched tonight (likely unavailable for a few days)
Kirk McCarty pitched on Tuesday (5 IP/ 94 pitches). Doubt he is available till Sunday
Justin Garza pitched in same game 1.1 IP/ 22 pitches. Likely available to pitch on Saturday if needed.

EDIT: Moss is not starting on Sat. His spot would have been on Thursday but TMac got the start instead..
Last game action for Scott Moss was 6/11/21

Question is, is cutting Parker going to help us any if we just replace him with another arm, which the whole point is to replace Nelson at the big league level... I still think that leaves us an arm short on paper.

It feels like to me, even though Nelson is struggling, I think he stays on the big league roster for now until Moss/Allen/McKenzie is ready to be up... Hence why I think we could go with a McCarty, not because he is the better pitcher, but because he can deal with more innings.

Under normal circumstances I would always go with the Garza, since his numbers say he has earned a right for a call up, but the problem we have isn't actually the bullpen, it's length in games. Until we get Plesac/Bieber back we need someone to just eat innings. Is there anyone else on our roster/in the minors who can do it?

Is there an old guy on another teams AAA roster we could use as an innings eater? Lol

Cat's buddy Giminez hit yet another home run tonight and this one was the game winner.

Looks like the tribe did OK in the Frankie trade.

More than OK if Wolf turns out like I think he will. I'm not as "in tune" with Greene, but I know he has some upside as well. Yeah, they did more than OK IMO, but I don't like or want the Indians to ever take on a contract like Lindor's. It makes no sense and the best a team could ever do with a deal like that is break even, and that's not very likely.

I wanted them to deal Lindor the year before, but the real sticker in that deal was the inclusion of Cookie. I don't know if his injuries would have happened if he were still here, but I love that guy and we sure could use him right now especially.

5 games in a row with a homer for Gimenez... Pretty darn impressive.
Make it 6 games in a row...

In other news from Indians Prospective Twitter (posted late Saturday afternoon)
#Indians 23yr old LHP Francisco Perez is being promoted to (AAA) Columbus.
A well deserved promotion for Perez who has been lights out at (AA) Akron to start the year.

@MadThinker88

So who do you think is your top prospects right now? Biggest jumpers in the prospect rating and the biggest dropper?
1st... You would get better insights from Tondo & some people at other sites (Brian Hemminger, AmbienTribe, McRose over at Covering the Corner, the group writers/ podcast guys over at IBI). I gather my insights & knowledge from all of them..
--------------------------
With that said IMHO:
Tyler Freeman was my personal top prospect for the Tribe coming into the season. I don't see/ have a strong reason to change that. I actually think the bandwagon for Freeman has grown during this year.

Daniel Espino was in many places a top 10 prospect in the system & I think he has solidified himself as the overall top pitching prospect in the organization with his performances this season and maintaining 100+ mph velocity in the 5th inning of multiple starts.

Biggest riser/ surprise (pitcher): RHP Xzavion Curry. He has burst onto the scene and made everyone take notice. The question before us now: Can he maintain it or is it a half season flash in the pan?

Biggest riser/ surprise (hitter): INF/OF Richie Palacios. After missing 2019 (injury) & 2020 (cancelled season), he has re-emerged and made everyone take notice & look up his info from a few years back. Performing like he has been at the AA level when his last organized game action was 20 games at Low A Lake County back in 2018 (after getting drafted in 2018) is very impressive.

INF Jhonkensey Noel could have made a case if he hadn't missed a lot of time so far due to injuries. His early returns were that impressive.

I'd rather have your opinion since you see the stats on these guys constantly cause you are always posting game scores. A prospects potential and what a prospect actually does are sometimes two completely different things...

Palacios and Noel will likely both be big decisions for the Rule 5 since neither were exactly on the list, but both have started to prove they should have been ranked... Curry was Bimbos sleeper...

Do you know anything about Ocker and Enright on the Captains roster? Both are quietly pitching well from the pen for them...
