Is it fair to say that he's like a bigger version of Okoro with less offensive upside on ball ? Like, they're both wicked smart defensive specialists who can guard multiple positions and pass the ball really well, and even if the shot is shaky and never fully gets there, they'll still be able to be productive players on a winning team for years to come.
I don't know about a bigger version of Okoro per se, or with a less upside offensively necessarily. But there are some similarities.
Both are physically gifted and can be overwhelming, but Scottie is on a different level .Offensively, his combination of strength, length, stride length, and ability to handle the ball and pass really makes him pop out of the screen and you can sense how overmatched the opposition is when they try to face him head on.
His aggressiveness and stride length when attacking remind me of Giannis in a way. Dunno.
Defensively, his motor is insane. And he covers so much ground. Sure, he is still abit raw defensively off the ball or was at least out of sync on some of the rotations, but with the way he can cover ground it didn't seem to matter.
Okoro was praised for his high motor, but I think he has more of a 'consistent' motor rather than a really high motor. Barnes is just a demon...he plays on 150% all the time, no breaks. Kinda like a Draymond/Giannis.
I don't know what his best position is going to be, but damn, it's just one game(and it wasn't a great game at all), but I want to draft him with a second pick. I think Okoro and him can really change the culture of this team. Would really make them defensively and athletically imposing.
