2021 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cunningham probably the most talented and at 6'7" is big enough to play the wing.

Mobley, Kuminga, Williams, Johnson all make sense in terms of position of need.

So, with that said, the Cavs will most likely draft another PG/SG. Jalen Green, Jalen Suggs, or Will Richardson --- Welcome to Cleveland!

i see international prospect usman garuba as a profile the cavs would be searching for. hard worker, defensive minded, blue collar type of player.

He is very limited offensively. Great defender, but looks to me like a mid 1st pick? @Nathan S

Binge Mode, early lottery

Cade is the lead man in this class but those Brandon Boston highlights and his early practice report returns at UK. Phew.

1. Cade Cunningham, PG

2. Brandon Boston, G

3. Evan Mobley, F

4. Jalen Green, G

5. Jonathan Kuminga, F

How many different #1 players are there? Every time I look up there's a new #1 player ranking. They all can't be #1. Who's the real #1?

Cade Cunningham.

But who knows by the end of the draft year, could be risers, there is lots of legit talent.

To me, it is something like this

Tier 1

Cade Cunningham

Tier 2

Boston, Mobley, Green, Springer, Jalen Johnson

Tier 3

Kuminga, Keon Johnson, Williams, Barnes, Clarke

I think Kuminga is the tougher one.....some might put him in Tier 2, I want to see a little more prior to doing so.

Keon Johnson is the guy that could shoot up draft boards.....similar to Okoro. He has a very similar developmental curve this past year.

Boston has the talent to be a Tier 1 guy, he just needs to mature, get stronger.

Most places have a general consensus too early top 4 of Cade, Boston, Mobley and Green.

To me, Springer is one of the players to watch. He (I believe) is the youngest player in this class, if my DB is correct. And he went to IMG for a year, will play under Barnes, who has developed NBA talent. I really like his frame, youth, athleticism and skill.

I also missed UK's pro day results:

Brandon Boston:

Height: 6'5.75" / 6'6.75"
Weight: 185
Wingspan: 6'11.5"
Reach: 8'6"
No Step: 30"
Max-Vert: 36.5"
Lane Agility: 11.03
3/4 Sprint: 3.36
Shuttle: 2.79

Boston has grown quite a bit in the last 2 years. I'm curious to see where he is at the NBA combine but those are already really strong measurements. Seeing as how he has room to add to his frame, those athleticism numbers are pretty encouraging as well.

Terrance Clarke:

Height: 6'5.75" / 6'6.75"
Weight: 194
Wingspan: 6'11.75"
Reach: 8'7"
No Step: 32"
Max-Vert: 38.5"
Lane Agility: 10.97
3/4 Sprint: 3.38
Shuttle: 2.72

Again, really good measurements for guys this young. Clarke is a guy I mentioned in the 2020 thread who I thought could be a riser as well. UK is going to be freakin loaded on the wing.

One thing to consider about Kuminga is that he reclassified into this class after originally being in the 2022 draft class. Wont turn 19 until about 3 weeks before what will be the start of his NBA career.

Also going to be interesting to see how scouts view the 5 guys who are playing for the G League Select team(Kuminga, Jalen Green, .Daisen Nix, Isaiah Todd, Kai Sotto) Getting some NBA coaching and tutelage and playing against grown ass men in practice and the exhibition games against the other G league teams.

Yep. Relative to his youth, I want to see how Kuminga looks on the wing against bigger / stronger players. When I watch him, he looks far more like a PF to me.......vs. someone like Boston, who is just so fluid athletically with the ball. Kuminga is a bit more lumbering in the half court and I have doubts he can play the 3 at the NBA level.......and if he's a 4, he's more of a Robert Covington type, that becomes a little less interesting to me in (in a draft like this).

We need to try and get another pick in the 1st round next season. Feels like the top 15-25 are going to be late lotto picks basically.

Hmmm. I really like him and see a combo forward with SF skillset but I’ll watch out for what you’re saying as they do broadcast two of their scrimmages or exhibition games in December supposedly.

I had assumed Brandon Boston was a pure SG, do you see him as more of a “wing” who can legit go against most SF in the league down the line?

At hoops summit Boston was measured at 6'4.5" without shoes and a 6'10" wingspan. At UK's pro day, he was 6'5.75" and 6'11.5". He has grown quite a bit the last 18 months. Part of my assessment of him being a probable 3 is that it is likely he gets a little bit bigger than that watching him grow as he has matured. If he grew another inch, we are talking 6'8" in shoes with his skillset. Maybe he lands at a big SG but I think his length makes him interchangeable on the wing. Being Cavs centric, It is easy to envision Boston and Okoro as a 2/3 pair offensively and then Okoro would guard the more physical player on the defensive end.
