2021 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That would have been better. I was high on Bamba and still refuse to believe that he can't be a high-level contributor (Anthony Randolph, too @RchfldCavRaised).

Still, their tape would immediately separate the two prospects, and even statistically, I would think the passing numbers would create a decent gap between the two in your model.

Yup. Defensively I think it's a reasonable comp if we want to think about what a subpar outcome might look like for Mobley. But Mobley is much more naturally gifted on offense.

I feel like the logical devil's advocate comparison from that draft would be Bamba.

I still feel like even this one isn't great.

I personally would be buy low guy on Bamba, as a high level role player.

But even so, there was a HUGE offensive gap between them.

Mobley is a better scorer, a more efficient scorer, a higher FT generator, a significantly better passer and for a prospect with as good of a defensive profile as Bamba, had pretty decisively better stats on a per foul basis.

These comps tend to be what is so unique about Mobley to me. He is like this vortex of several guys. There's really just few players even like him. I don't think he's AD.......but he's the most AD like guy we have seen since AD. Again, a notch or two below AD to me......but the first player where you stack their profiles up and go "Shit, this guy could actually realistically be AD."

Oh yeah, I'm just saying it makes more sense than Bagley. Mobley and Bamba have similar concerns about having high centers of gravity and passive personalities. I'd buy the argument that Bamba didn't pan out defensively (he's fine, but obviously not elite), so maybe Mobley won't either. But Mobley doesn't have to be an elite defender to be successful because he's reasonably likely to be a positive-impact offensive player.

For sure. I laughed that I spent 15 minutes doing that response and then saw you clarify with the defensive comp note minutes before. :chuckle:

Respectfully, I feel like this Tony guy's opinions are not worthy of this thread

We've been doing some damn good work in here all season, I come in here to catch up on 30 new posts, and they're all about refuting this random local radio dude who I've never heard of, who has these late contrarian opinions in the last two minutes of the 4th quarter...

I knew this moment would come as soon as the season came to an end.

We have a contingency in here that follows these prospects all year. We discuss, and we bicker, and we often differ, but we understand why we each stand where we do.

Then, the lottery happens, and a bunch of people who just learned who these guys are start coming around telling us that @Nathan S is a moron.

I'll stop. Sharing them for comedic relief and the "RCF v. the world" angle more than anything else.

We know he's not credible.

Thank you brotha. Nothing personal, I think he's being undressed in a few other threads where guys who care to know him are swapping war stories.

1. Mobley
2. Green
3. Trade back

Trade Back Wishlist
1. Barnes & Moody
2. Barnes & Jalen Johnson

Wanting to trade into the lotto for a 24 year old. I don't get the hype with Duarte. Good player but I wouldn't take a 24 year old before pick 25.

Louisville's Francisco Garcia

If he ends up a lotto pick, he owes Saddiq Bey and Cam Johnson ALOT of money

He'd be late lotto or just outside for me.

Literally, the only knock on him is his age. He was incredibly productive last year and if we get Mobley, adding a good-sized wing who can shoot the ball needs to be a priority. That said, of the guys who fit that description, he's behind Moody and Wagner for me.

@RchfldCavRaised Cam Johnson would be ideal for us

Stay away from Brandon Weeden types.

I mean he was a grown man going against mostly teenagers and 20/21 year olds. I would certainly hope he was good against them. I like the kid but unless he was available in the 20s I'm not sure I would take him over someone with more upside. He's the type of player you draft when your 1 piece away. Not when your still building and trying to figure your team out. But thats just how I see it with older picks.

I believe that kind of thinking is why you see so many bad picks happen in the 10-20 range. I'm not looking for a high-potential guy there. Give me somebody that looks like they can play basketball.
