The Brew Crew comes to town for three meaningless games other than evaluation purposes. The Brewers are 31 games over .500 with the third best record in the N.L. They've actually been better on the road with a record of 46-24. They rank 6th in the N.L. in runs per game and 3rd in ERA. Just a very good team top to bottom that kicks butt on the road. These are the only three games we will play them this season, thank goodness.
Their offense doesn't feature any superstars, just a bunch of good hitters. Their top hitters have OPS's of .905, .823 (that would be former White Sock Avasail Garcia), .798, .791, .790, .781, .776, and .763. They're averaging 4.60 runs per game but most of their games were with the pitcher hitting.
The Brewers have won 8 of 11.
Eli Morgan goes against RHP Adrian Houser tonight. Houser is having a strong year; 8-6, 3.41. In his last start on Sep. 4 he threw a 9-inning 3-hit shutout against the Cardinals. However, for the season his home ERA is 2.54 against 4.37 on the road, so he won't have the home cooking tonight. Houser has better numbers with men on base, especially with two out and RISP where opponents are hitting .133 off him.
After watching the Tribe flail helplessly against the Twins rookies and bullpen, I don't expect more than maybe five runs this weekend. But that's OK. All eyes will be on Ohio State - Oregon and the Browns - Chiefs games. The Brewers are way out of our league and with Morgan, Plesac, and TBD starting for the Tribe I'll be surprised if this isn't a sweep.
