Maybe the trade for Straw?Something had Zimmer fired up... I don't think I've even seen him so emotional before.
Baby steps. No idea what the velocity or spin rate was but it's nice to see Karinchak have two straight solid outings. Both against the Tigers, but still...
Really grasping for Straw's hereMaybe the trade for Straw?
Really grasping for Straw's here
Thought I said that earlier.Dont agree.
When it comes to Zimmer, trading for Myles was the Straw that broke the camel's back as far as motivation.
Thought I said that earlier.
I was impressed with Miller's oppo home run. Most middle infielders don't have the muscle to take it out the other way. And, yes, I know he was playing first base today.Zimmer actually hit the ball like a quality corner OFer today. I know it's the lowly Tigers, but it was nice to see and it would be nice to see it continue. His defense in RF to go along with a good bat would make him invaluable to this team.
Plesac isn't back to form yet. More importantly I hope he learned that throwing a temper tantrum and injuring yourself isn't good for himself or the club.
Stephan wasn't sharp either, but damn he's got a good arm. I think I'd still prefer to see him as a SP option.
Straw appears to be a keeper. Hats off to CA/MC for that under the radar acquisition.
Everyone here knows how highly I think of Miller, be he appears to still be a bit off his game. It appears, to me anyway, that he is being over aggressive. I think he'll be fine in short order.
Miller's has some power which is why I have preferred him to Freeman. I think their bat to ball abilities are similar with a slight edge to Freeman. Both are very good hitters IMO.I was impressed with Miller's oppo home run. Most middle infielders don't have the muscle to take it out the other way. And, yes, I know he was playing first base today.
Miller hit a home run to center earlier this week on a breaking ball down and away, barely in the zone. He has a lot more power than I thought. Can he hit well enough to be the starting 2B next year? We'll find out.
Zimmer has some interesting splits; .304/.784 at home, .188/.565 away; and .288/.752 over the last 30 days. As the #9 hitter he's batting .333/.849. He's hitting .290 with runners on, .291 with RISP, and .400 with RISP and two out (6-for-15). Small samples, but interesting. I would play Straw, Mercado, and Zimmer almost every day for the rest of the season. Put Harold in every other game for one of them.
