Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think he would be that bad as a reliever, his first two pitches are legit, and he throws a lot of strikes which is something you need out of the pen. I get he is slightly more pitch to contact but he doesn't walk people. So at the end of the day, having him in a bullpen isn't going to hurt you at all...
We'll just have to agree to disagree, and the only "legit" pitch he has is the changeup. Other than that he's ridiculously hittable.

Look at his numbers... His fastball is slow, but with good movement and it plays super well off of his changeup, makes it a weapon. But if you have two pitches, hitters will sit on one hence why he struggles with the second-third time through the lineup. Hence why I said he would be nothing but a long reliever unless he develops another pitch...

@CDAV45

Eli Morgan has given up 1 run in the 1st inning between the 7 starts he has had...

This is before this start, first time through the lineup his opponents slash numbers are .213/.231/.373 then it goes to .429/.472/.980 with the second time through...

If you put him as a reliever, I have a hunch with the fact his attacking attitude and his stuff is different than anyone else in the pen, he would better than what Plutko would be. At the current moment I would even say, Morgan actually would be way better from the pen than starting on paper cause of his first time through the lineup numbers...

Also Morgan has better numbers against lefties than righties cause of his changeup...

Ok, let's say you're spot on. Who in the BP would you replace with him?

At the current moment, no one since we need him starting and he's been able to eat innings, I think we have to leave him there, but let's project next season...

Bieber, Plesac, Civale, Quantrill then TMac? as the starting rotation... I would have Morgan stretched out via spring training and be the long man from the pen... Essentially my role personally for him would be the guy who comes in for 2-3 innings a couple times a week or longer innings wise if guys get shelled early...

It's very unlikely the Indians actually use him that way until his options are used up, since you do need depth at SP... But I think his long term placement is the long relief as a multi-inning guy.

The return is 2 top 30 guys, both pitchers. Neither top 10 but Tampa is pretty stacked

Doesn’t bode well for the potential return in a Cesar deal, let alone an injured Rosario.

Honestly it would not surprise me if we get nothing for Rosario and hope someone takes on his remaining salary/claims him. Though odds are we end up with a warm body of some sort, think 26 year old AA relief pitcher with control issues.

Hernandez should at least get us a lotto ticket.. I hope.....

I really like the move. Twins lack starting pitching and they got two guys, Ryan would be their 5th Ranked prospect and Strotman mixed with Windler and Sands (Who are similarly ranked) makes a legit SP competition... It could be solid in 22/23 season with those arms....

Criz, I'd say it depends on how much, if any of Eddie's salary Cleveland is willing to pay. With the payroll as low as it is, paying Eddie's salary to get a good prospect could prove a good investment. I know that's not how they typically operate, but I would consider it if I were calling the shots. The same goes for Cesar, minus the option of course. It's payroll already factored in so it's not like they would be taking on additional salary.

If Cleveland eats Cesar's remaining salary for this season then they sure as hell would get a prospect in our top 30. Otherwise it's not a good investment and it would be a better move just to dump his salary IMO.

Eating some salary to improve the return may be possible, especially with a small market or luxury tax/cap type situation. The thing with Eddie though, he has been pretty terrible this year. I just don't see him improving leftfield for a contender.

Cesar is at least hitting dingers and could be an offensive upgrade for someone at 2B.

Eddie was hitting the ball quite well. What was absent was his power, and that was starting to show itself as well. I don't expect to get much of anything, if anything at all, for Eddie, but he could help a contender when he gets healthy.
