Playoff watch:
As it stands we need Miami to get to 39 losses to have playoffs officially locked in, each cavs win lowers that number of losses required. Miami are currently on 33 losses, Miami get a lot of close wins like today
We have the best divisional record in the NBA, guess it helps being in the same division as the Pistons who are 0-12 vs the division so far.
Regarding the division record: that's part of it but not all of it. Central this year is in the mid-range + relative to the other divisions imo:
Tier 1 Division(s):
-Atlantic (Top to bottom, the strongest division in basketball. Boston, Philly. Knicks are pretty good this year. Brooklyn is solid, even after the trades. Every team has a positive point differential. Toronto is the only team with a losing record and they're 4 games under .500)
-Pacific (Overall a solid division, but they're on the cusp of being in tier 2. This division is filled with a lot of under achieving teams (Golden State, Clippers, Lakers, Suns) but they could all make decent+ playoff runs. Sacramento has been really good this year.)
Tier 2 Division(s):
-Central (Bucks and the Cavs are two of the best teams in the league. Chicago is 'okay' but underwhelming. Indiana had good stretches throughout the year but they're a below average team. Detroit is the conversation for the worst team in basketball.)
Tier 3 Division(s):
-
Southwest (carried by Memphis, Mavs, Pelicans. Houston and San Antonio are two of the worst three teams in the league)
-
Northwest (Carried by Denver and filled out with a bunch of average/okay teams)
Oof Division:
-
Southeast (every single team in this division has a negative point differential. On paper, Miami should be the biggest beneficiary among playoff teams. They share a division with Charlotte+Orlando and Atlanta and Washington have been okay at best this year)
