Maybe the Cavs just lose out (rest all starters) and face the Celtics in the opening series and get this over with.

:box2:

With Philly's loss last night, Cavs now just 2.5 games back for the 3 seed.

Tough schedule for Philly the rest of the way and I wonder if they would rest Embiid for a few games before the playoffs.

March 27 - at Denver
March 29 - Dallas
March 31 - Toronto
April 2 - at Milwaukee
April 4 - Boston
April 6 - Miami
April 7 - at Atlanta
April 9 - at Brooklyn

Denver hammered the Bucks by 23 points last night. The Nuggets are 31-6 at home. The Sixers play them tomorrow after losing back-to-backs against Golden State and Phoenix. It will be their 3rd game in four nights.

If we beat Houston at home and Denver beats Philly tomorrow we'll be 1.5 games out of 3rd place and the Sixers still have to play Milwaukee, Boston, Toronto, and finish on the road against Atlanta and Brooklyn. Could get interesting if the Cavs keep winning and Philly loses to Denver, Milwaukee, and Boston.

After losing back-to-back games to the Cavs, the Nets went to South Beach and blasted Miami by 29 in their building. Wow.

For the Cavs, the key games will be two after tonight's Houston game.

If the Cavs can go 2-0 at Atlanta on Tuesday and vs the Knicks at home on Friday, the 3 seed becomes very attainable.

The Sixers have 8 games left and need to lose 4 more games than the Cavaliers to drop from #3. No matter how many games back they are in the standings, the Cavaliers aren't catching the Sixers. Save your time and energy on that one.

Have you looked at their schedule? They could lose 4 games. Maybe a 20% chance it happens.

I would say Philly will be underdog on w games (at Den and at Mil). Bit none of the other 6 remaining games is a gimme.

Cavs need to keep the pedal to the metal as long as they've got a shot at 3rd. It now appears BKN has all but locked up that 6 seed, so the #3 seed is VERY desirable.

*IF* the Sixers lose 4 games, the Cavaliers still need to go undefeated. I promise its a fruitless thought exercise***.

***Unless Embiid gets injured.

He's missed 13 games this year, so it certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility. Since we cannot know whether or not that will happen, we cannot know that it is fruitless.

What's the harm in hoping for it?

Y'all hope for the Sixers to lose 4 more games out of 8, Joel Embiid to get injured, and the Cavaliers to go undefeated over their last 7 games, and I'll hope for Emily Ratajkowski, Maria Pedraza and Brooklyn Sundano to populate my bed. Pretty similar and equally fruitful odds.

I think “pedal to the metal” chasing an unlikely scenario seems like a bad idea. The Knicks have come back to earth after their streak and are only 4-6 in their last 10. I’ll take us rested and healthy against them over worn and wounded against the Nets.

Back to the playoffs boys and girls!! I am celebrating with a dealcoholized beer!!!!
